NEW: Trump Eyeing Jeanine Pirro For Key Administration Role
A familiar face from Fox News could soon be taking on a powerful new role in the nation’s capital.
Multiple sources say President Donald Trump is strongly considering appointing Judge Jeanine Pirro as the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia according to ABC News. The move would mark a significant shakeup in the federal legal apparatus—and a bold show of confidence in one of Trump’s most vocal defenders.
Trump hinted at the change during an Oval Office meeting Thursday, confirming that current acting D.C. attorney Ed Martin is no longer being considered for the permanent role after reportedly falling out of favor with Senate Republicans.
An official announcement could come within hours, although sources cautioned to ABC News that no final decision has been made until the president signs off.

Pirro, a former Westchester County district attorney and longtime Fox News host, has built her reputation on fierce law-and-order rhetoric and unwavering support for Trump’s America First agenda. Her potential elevation to this key legal post is already generating buzz—especially given the strategic importance of the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, which handles many high-profile political and federal cases.
Trump’s decision to potentially tap a trusted media ally for such a critical legal position comes as no surprise to those familiar with his governing style. If confirmed, Pirro would not only bring prosecutorial experience to the table—but also a combative media presence that has rallied the conservative base for years.

The role of D.C. U.S. attorney is one of the most scrutinized in the country, especially during an election year. With Trump making sweeping promises to restore law and order, Pirro could soon be at the center of it all.
Pirro has been a prominent television personality, legal analyst, author, and former judge and prosecutor. Born in Elmira, New York, Pirro built a decades-long career across law, media, and politics. She began her legal career in 1975 as an Assistant District Attorney, where she gained national attention for establishing one of the country’s first domestic violence units.
In 1990, Pirro became the first woman elected as a judge on the Westchester County Court and later made history again as the county’s first female District Attorney, a position she held from 1993 to 2005.
Pirro’s political ambitions included a run for U.S. Senate in 2006 against Hillary Clinton, though she later withdrew to run for New York Attorney General. She lost that race to Democrat Andrew Cuomo. After leaving public office, Pirro transitioned to television. From 2008 to 2011, she hosted the syndicated court show Judge Jeanine Pirro, which earned a Daytime Emmy.
In 2011, she began hosting Justice with Judge Jeanine on Fox News, where she became a staple of primetime conservative commentary. As of 2022, she joined Fox’s hit panel show The Five as a co-host.
Pirro has maintained a loyal following among conservative viewers and remains a significant figure in the media. Trump, who has long had a close relationship with Pirro, is said to see her as a strong and loyal candidate with legal experience and conservative credentials.
