NEW: Trump Vows To Prosecute His Own STAFF!

President Donald Trump delivered a stern warning to members of his own administration Thursday, declaring that anyone caught engaging in dishonest conduct should face prosecution, regardless of their political connections or relationship with the White House.

The president made the remarks while responding to questions about a reported Justice Department investigation involving Corey Lewandowski, his longtime political ally and former campaign manager who previously served as a senior adviser at the Department of Homeland Security.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump acknowledged hearing about the allegations but insisted he was unfamiliar with the specifics. Nevertheless, he made clear that loyalty to his administration would not protect anyone found guilty of wrongdoing.

“I heard something about it, but I don’t know exactly what it is. All I know is I want my people to be honest, and if they’re not going to be honest, they have to be prosecuted,” Trump said.

“I view it as if people are not honest, they’re stealing from me as president, they’re stealing from me. So I want my people to be honest, and if they’re not honest, I’ll have my DOJ go and do whatever they have to do.”

Trump’s comments followed reports that federal prosecutors are reviewing allegations that Lewandowski improperly used his influential position at DHS for personal financial benefit.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Justice Department received a criminal referral from the DHS inspector general following an examination of Lewandowski’s involvement in government contracting decisions.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether the longtime Republican operative attempted to benefit financially from his government position, including through his relationships with federal contractors and foreign officials.

Lewandowski served as a special government employee under former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, operating in an unpaid advisory capacity while exercising considerable influence over department operations. His role attracted congressional attention earlier this year after questions emerged about his authority over federal spending.

In March, ProPublica reported that internal DHS records showed Lewandowski approving contracts despite Noem previously telling lawmakers that he had no such authority. The controversy became part of broader concerns surrounding Noem’s leadership, including scrutiny of a $220 million advertising campaign and questionable government spending decisions.

Trump ultimately removed Noem from her position in March, with Lewandowski departing the department around the same time. Despite the allegations, Lewandowski has firmly denied wrongdoing. His attorney, Adam Trigg, said Thursday that his client had not been contacted by Justice Department investigators and maintained that he had served the country honorably in a voluntary position.

The reported investigation does not establish that Lewandowski committed a crime, and no criminal charges against him were announced in Thursday’s reports. Trump, meanwhile, refused to prejudge the allegations against his longtime associate but repeatedly stressed that administration officials must meet his standards for honesty.

“I have no idea what he did,” Trump told reporters, adding that he expects those serving in his administration to be “100% honest.”

The president also addressed whether he would interfere with potential legal proceedings involving an ally.

“If he’s honest, that’s good. If he’s not honest, you have to pay a price,” Trump said. “So I will never do anything to stop a prosecution if somebody is dishonest.”

The remarks place Trump publicly on the side of allowing prosecutors to pursue allegations involving one of his closest political associates, even as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding Lewandowski’s tenure at Homeland Security.
