NEW: Trump’s Iran Deal ‘Has Never Been Closer’
Iran’s foreign minister said a potential agreement between Tehran and Washington “has never been closer,” signaling that President Donald Trump’s push for a deal may be nearing a major breakthrough.
Abbas Araghchi made the statement in a social media post as speculation swirled over the possible terms of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.
The comments came after Mehr, a semiofficial hard-line Iranian news agency tied to factions opposed to a deal with Washington, published what it claimed was a version of the agreement.
But both sides quickly cast doubt on that version.
Trump said the document leaked to Iranian media was not accurate, while Iran’s state news agency IRNA also questioned the content of the reported memorandum.

Araghchi urged media outlets and political players to stop guessing about the terms while negotiations continue.
He said that “in line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.”
The warning appeared aimed at hard-line opponents inside Iran who have resisted a deal with the United States and could be trying to shape public opinion before any final agreement is announced.
For Donald Trump, the statement marks one of the clearest signs yet that his high-pressure diplomacy with Tehran could be moving toward a result.

The president has been pushing for an agreement aimed at ending the nuclear standoff and cooling tensions after months of conflict across the Middle East.
While the details remain unclear, Araghchi’s message suggests both sides are close enough that leaked versions and political spin have become part of the fight over the final outcome.

Any agreement would likely face intense scrutiny in Washington, Tehran and Jerusalem, especially from critics wary of giving Iran relief without ironclad guarantees on its nuclear program.
