NEW: White House Shuts Down Unfounded Hoax On Trump’s Whereabouts
The White House issued a statement on Sunday after a number of left-wing social media influencer — without any evidence — circulated rumors that President Donald Trump was undergoing a medical emergency and had been transferred to the Walter Reed Medical Center.
The speculation began following a routine White House announcement at 11:08 a.m. that a press “lid” had been called. In White House terminology, a lid notifies the press pool that the president has no additional scheduled public appearances or events for the remainder of the day.
Such notifications — which were given on a near daily basis under the Biden Administration — occur regularly and do not indicate an emergency or change in the president’s location.
On this occasion, the timing coincided with the Easter weekend, during which President Trump did not travel to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, his customary weekend destination. A number of leftist social media users, including @JoJoFromJerz, Brian Krassenstein and several other hyper-partisans then began to claim that the lid indicated a medical emergency.
Posts claiming hospitalization gained traction quickly, accumulating significant views, though none included confirmed details such as motorcade sightings, official statements, or accounts from the White House press corps.

Countering these claims, journalists and White House observers noted the presence of a U.S. Marine sentry posted outside the West Wing entrance. Standard protocol dictates that a Marine sentry at this location signals the president is inside the White House complex and working in the Oval Office.
CBS News producer Emma Nicholson and other reporters shared observations and images of the sentry around 1:50 p.m., confirming the president’s presence at the White House that afternoon.
The rumors focused exclusively on Walter Reed National Military Medical Center despite the lack of evidence. Additional reports from CBS News and other outlets indicated that activity appeared normal outside the hospital, with no evidence of a presidential motorcade or blocked access to nearby streets, which is customary for a presidential medical visit.
Others shared old video footage of President Trump’s arrival at a Pennsylvania hospital following the attempt on his life in 2024.

The White House later issued a statement in which they completely denied the rumors and confirmed that Trump was at the White House. “There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump. On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office. God Bless him,” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung confirmed in a follow-up statement.

The baseless rumors come as the Iran conflict inches towards escalation. Throughout the day, search and rescue operations continued for a downed airman who remains missing after they were forced to eject from an F-15 over Southwest Iran.
Earlier in the day, Trump reiterated his 48-hour deadline to the regime to re-open the vital Strait of Hormuz or face significant escalation. He also announced that a number of Iranian leaders had been killed in the latest round of strikes in Tehran, with Fox News later reporting that upwards of 50 leaders were killed in the strikes.
