NEW: Woke U.S. Olympian Humiliated After Placing 13th In Key Event
U.S. figure skater Amber Glenn, who has openly blasted the Trump administration and proudly labeled herself a “woke b*tch,” suffered a stunning setback Tuesday at the Milan Cortina Olympics, finishing 13th in the women’s short program after a costly mistake.
Glenn entered the Games widely viewed as a legitimate medal contender in women’s singles. But under the bright lights of Olympic competition, one missed element changed everything.
After landing a triple axel, Glenn failed to complete the required triple loop in her routine, earning a zero for the element in the technical score. In a sport where every fraction of a point matters, the omission proved devastating.
“With a score of 67.39 in the short program, Glenn finished in 13th place in Tuesday’s competition,” Sports Illustrated reports. “Her mistake cost her seven technical points from her score. It’ll be extremely difficult for her to medal on Thursday following the free skate.”
The result leaves Glenn with a steep climb heading into the free skate, where scores from the short program carry over. Barring a near-perfect performance and stumbles from multiple competitors, a podium finish now appears unlikely.
The emotional toll was evident. Glenn lingered on the ice after completing her routine, visibly shaken and struggling to hold back tears. She eventually skated off and embraced her coach, clearly distressed by the unexpected placement.

Glenn, who has identified as bisexual and pansexual, has been outspoken about politics throughout the season. She previously claimed that the LGBTQ community was facing a “hard time” under President Donald Trump.
“It’s been a hard time for the community overall and this administration. It isn’t the first time that we’ve had to come together as a community and try and fight for our human rights. And now, especially, it’s not just affecting the queer community, but many other communities.”
Her comments sparked backlash online, prompting her to temporarily step away from social media. After winning gold at a prior competition, she doubled down in a TikTok post, writing, “They hate to see two woke b*tches winning,” and adding, “If ‘Woke’ means people who use their platforms to advocate for marginalized communities in the country that they are actively representing…… Then yeah sure?”

On Tuesday, however, the focus shifted from politics to performance.
In Olympic figure skating, the short program is critical. A major deduction can derail medal hopes before the free skate even begins. Glenn’s seven-point technical loss proved the difference between contention and long-shot status.
She is still scheduled to compete in Thursday’s free skate, where she will attempt to rebound and salvage her Olympic campaign.
For now, one of Team USA’s most outspoken athletes finds herself not at the top of the standings, but fighting to recover after a key event went sharply off script.
