Newsom Targets JD Vance’s Family Over Disneyland Visit
California Governor Gavin Newsom is under fire for a social media post in which he attacked Vice President J.D. Vance’s family after they took a trip to Disneyland in California.
As Vice President Vance, his wife, Usha and their young children made their way to the famed theme park, about 100 leftist protesters gathered outside to jeer the family, according to a report from the Orange County Register. Additional protests — which mostly consisted of elderly women — were held in Anaheim when the family toured the area as part of their vacation.
On Saturday, a small crowd also gathered at the Grand Californian Hotel, adjacent to the park, where Vance is believed to be staying, local outlet KTLA reported. A number of the protesters could be seen waving Mexican flags, a common occurrence at anti-Trump protests.
Despite the fact that the visit was not political, a number of local Democrat leaders encouraged their followers to harass the Vance family during their vacation. “I’m offended by the visit, because so many families are being terrorized by the policies from the federal government,” Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento told KTLA.
California Governor Gavin Newsom joined them by tweeting out an attack on the family to his 2.3 million X followers. “Hope you enjoy your family time, @JDVance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t,” Newsom posted from his official government page.
The “families being torn apart” line appears to refer to Thursday’s immigration enforcement raid in nearby Ventura County, when a large contingent of federal agents conducted an operation at a cannabis farm. A number of minors — who had been forced to pick marijuana crops on the farm — were rescued as part of the raid.
Among the 300 illegal aliens apprehended during the raid at Glass House Farms was a currently unnamed man with a history of violent and sexual crime, including attempted child exploitation. “This illegal alien was apprehended at the CA marijuana facility,” Border Patrol Commissioner Rodney Scott posted on X alongside a photo of the suspect.
“Turns out he had been sentenced to 7 yrs for kidnapping & attempted rape, w/ a prior conviction for attempted child molestation. And this felon was working at the same farm as 10 kids – one being 14 yrs old.”
Newsom’s post, while celebrated by the far-left, has largely generated backlash on social media. “He’s not returning your underage illegal alien indentured servants to work on your donor’s pot farm, if that’s what you’re asking,” said conservative attorney and activist Will Chamberlain.
“You have been facilitating child trafficking for forced labor, Newscum,” added independent legal analyst Viva Frei. “You’ve got some nerve trying to shame JD Vance for being a father.”
The far-left has frequently mobilized to harass Vice President Vance’s family since President Trump returned to the White House this past January. Back in March, the family had to be evacuated to an “undisclosed location” after a mob surrounded their hotel during a ski trip.
