NFL Player Forced To Walk Back Comments After Bashing Biden For Griner Swap
Professional football player Micah Parsons, a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, took to Twitter to bash President Joe Biden after the abysmal prisoner swap for Brittney Griner took place this morning, and he did not hold back.
Since his comments this morning, Parsons has walked back the words he said, claiming that he spoke to other people he trusted and conceded that he needed to be “more educated on the topic.” Despite walking back his comments, Parsons has a legitimate reason to be frustrated with the Biden Administration.
Parson claims that his fiery comments Thursday morning came from tweeting “out of emotion for my family and other who have served.” In his comments, Parsons referenced former Marine Paul Whelan who has been imprisoned in Russia since 2018 for accounts of espionage that both the United States and Whelan deny.
Can you blame the guy? Anyone who has loved ones who have served is entitled to some amount of frustration, given that Griner has been in jail for 10 months and a former Marine continues to be jailed due to what many are calling a sham trial.
Read Micah Parsons’ full apology below:
“Just spoke to some people that I respect and trust. I should have been more educated on the topic and not tweeted out of emotion for my family and other who have served. For that I apologize. Also if what I’m told about the attempts to bring Ret Marine Paul Whelan home are true … then the best outcome was accomplished. I pray Mr. Whelan comes home but am extremely happy for Brittney and her family. I am not too prideful to admit when I’ve made a mistake,” Parsons said in two separate tweets.
Parson’s above apology comes from his tweet just two hours prior, where he said in a retweet, “Wait nah!! We left a marine?!! H*ll nah”. Check out his retweet in the post below:

After his first tweet, Parsons responded almost an hour and a half later with a disclaimer that his original tweet was not a “shot” toward Brittney Griner. His tweet went on to say that he has loved ones in his family who had served and was astounded that President Joe Biden would not also include former Marine Whelan.
Check out his second tweet below:
My last tweet was no shot at Brittney Griner. I’m super happy she’s back home as she should be. I just have family who have served and it’s crazy to me the President wouldn’t bring him home too. I’m the furthest thing from a trump supporter but I’m not a fan of Biden either.

According to ABC News, Biden addressed not bringing back Paul Whelan when he said, “We never forgot about Brittney. We’ve not forgotten about Paul Whelan, who has been unjustly detained in Russia for years. This was not a choice of which American to bring home … Sadly, for totally illegitimate reasons, Russia is treating Paul’s case differently than Brittney’s, and while we have not yet succeeded in securing Paul’s release we are not giving up. We will never give up.”
Regardless of the Biden Administration’s comments, it is absurd that Parsons would be asked to walk back his comments for defending former Marine Paul Whelan, especially to the family connection he has to those who have served.
However, it is refreshing to hear the support for the U.S. Military from someone in the National Football League who has fully embraced the despicable tradition of kneeling during the National Anthem and other woke ideologies.
