Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two others were killed in a car crash on Saturday morning, the team announced in a statement.

The fatal accident took place in Prince George’s County, Maryland, according to a press release from the Maryland State Police. Jackson, who was the front passenger in a Dodge Charger, was pronounced dead at the scene following a three-car collision in Upper Marlboro. Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, were also killed in the crash.

All three of the deceased victims were traveling in the Dodge Charger, which was struck by a silver Infiniti on Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue, police said. The preliminary investigation has found that the Infiniti, which was being driven by Cori Clingman, struck the Charger first.

It was then hit by a Chevrolet Impala after attempting to change lanes at a high rate of speed. At that point, the Charger veered off the road and struck a number of tree stumps before coming to a rest.

Hazel, who was driving the Dodger Charger, was also pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Lytton Jr., who was seated in the back of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead not long after.

“We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident,” the Vikings said in a statement. “While we work to gather more information, we have spoken to Khyree’s family and offered the support of the Minnesota Vikings. We have also communicated the news to Vikings players, coaches and staff and have offered counseling for those who need emotional support. Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.”

A promising defensive prospect, Jackson was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year. He spent two years at the University of Alabama before transferring to Oregon in 2023.
