NFL Under Fire After Tapping Trump-Hating Cross-Dresser For Super Bowl Halftime
A polarizing pick by the NFL to headline this season’s Super Bowl halftime performance has led to the resurfacing of past criticisms of immigration authorities by the cross-dressing Puerto Rican singer.
Attacks by Bad Bunny on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have conservatives seething over news that the singer will be occupying America’s biggest stage during next year’s championship game. At the same time, social media users are mocking the artist for his history of cross-dressing in women’s clothes and lambasting the NFL for falling out of touch with Americans who don’t want to see “woke” agendas on display at sporting events.
The Puerto Rican native has exploded since arriving on the scene in 2016, rising to become one of the world’s most in-demand artists. But his political statements in recent years have provoked dudgeon among conservatives, especially his latest attack on ICE agents.
Bad Bunny said earlier this year that he would not be booking any U.S. stops on his international tour over fear that immigration authorities would use the concerts to arrest some of his fans.
“But there was the issue of — like, f—ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he told i-D.
In June, he posted a video of what he described as a local ICE raid occurring in Puerto Rico.
“Look, those motherf*****s are in these cars, RAV-4s. They’re here in Pontezuela,” he said in Spanish, showing ICE vehicles in Avenida Pontezuela in Carolina, a city east of Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan.
“Sons of b*****s, instead of leaving the people alone and working there,” he added.
Online, commentators quickly drew a link between Bad Bunny’s selection and liberal members of the NFL’s halftime performance selection committee.
“Barack Obama’s best friend Jay-Z runs the Super Bowl selection process through his company Roc Nation, which has an exclusive contract with the NFL. This is who chooses the halftime show, the most-watched musical performance in America,” Jack Posobiec wrote.
“This is who was just picked to lead the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show,” said End Wokeness, which shared a picture of Bad Bunny wearing a white dress.

One day before his selection was announced, Bad Bunny insisted that his ongoing tour would include at least one stateside performance, Fox News reported.
“I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States,” he wrote on X.
Super Bowl LX is set for Feb. 8, 2026.
