WATCH: Far-Left Protesters Call On House Dems To Nullify Trump’s Election Win

After years of referring to President-elect Donald Trump’s questioning of the 2020 election results as a “threat to Democracy,” a sizable number of Democrat lawmakers and voters are calling on Democrats to commit, in their words, “insurrection” by refusing to certify Trump’s November election victory.

On Friday, a group of around 50 left-wing protesters gathered in Washington D.C. to protest the looming electoral certification, which is scheduled for Monday, January 6. Protesters held signs reading “Honor Your Oath,” and “Insurrectionists Can’t Be President,” as they chanted “lock him up,” footage obtained by independent reporter Ford Fischer shows.

One of the protesters held up a sign reading “Deny, Defend, Depose,” a reference to the manifesto penned by accused killer Luigi Mangione, who allegedly gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last month.

“We’ve all gathered here today for the same reason, to demand that Congress uphold the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution, specifically section 3 that states that an insurrectionist cannot be president,” one of the speakers told the crowd, referencing a Civil War era amendment that was cited in attempt to bar Trump from the primary and general election ballots. The statute was cited by Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold in her decision to bar Trump — who was never accused or convicted of “insurrection” or “rebellion — from the ballot. 

The decision was ultimately overruled by the U.S.  Supreme Court after the Colorado Supreme Court upheld it.

The speaker went on to call on Democrats to reject notions that the party lost the election due to shifting too far to the left, neglecting media interviews and other contributing factors in the loss. “We ‘lost,'” he continued, placing “lost” in air quotes. “And I’m using air quotes because I don’t believe it, that’s up to you if you do. We ‘lost’ the election because a foreign adversary spent millions and millions and millions of dollars on bot farms to bombard half the country with Russian disinformation and they beat it into their heads to the point that Americans started to parrot it, from Joe Rogan to Tim Pool.”

One of the protesters told Fischer that he proudly divorced his wife after he found out she was “MAGA.”

Despite the protests, the electoral certification is expected to proceed without incident. U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin has previously called for the election results to be tossed out in order to create “civil war conditions,” though Democrats as a whole have given no indication of enacting the plan. Vice President Harris — who is set to certify the victory of her opponent — has also stated that she intends to certify the results.
