NY Times Ripped After Accusing Hegseth Of ‘Sexism’ Over Iran Strikes Press Conference
The New York Times is being relentlessly mocked for accusing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of “sexism” for his word choices when praising U.S. service members after strikes on Iranian nuclear sites Saturday night.
During a joint press conference alongside Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine, Hegseth discussed the precision B-2 bomber operation that targeted Iran’s Fordow uranium enrichment site. “Iran is calculating the reality that planes flew from the middle of America in MISSOURI over night, completely undetected, over 3 of their most highly sensitive sites. And we were able to destroy nuclear capabilities,” he said.
Hegseth then delivered the line that New York Times “fact checkers” objected to, when he stated that, “our boys in those bombers are on their way home right now.”
Times contributor John Ismay responded to the remark by accusing Hegseth of sexism in the outlet’s live blog of the press conference. “In the briefing, Hegseth referred to B-2 bombers as ‘our boys on those bombers,’ yet both men and women have trained to fly them,” Ismay wrote.
The bizarre post comes as some Democrats are re-introducing impeachment efforts in response to Trump’s decision to launch the strikes. “The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted on X. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”
Like the NYT post, AOC’s demands were largely met with mockery, as many social media users pointed out that the far-left lawmaker had no such objections to unilateral strikes launched under previous presidents. “You didn’t impeach biden for his Middle East unconstitutional bombings,” one user mused. “So STFU.”
Other Democrats, including Senator John Fetterman, praised the president for launching the strikes. “As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by [President Trump],” Fetterman said.
“Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world.”
