Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, didn’t hesitate to show his gratitude towards God after being named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for 2022.

In a heartfelt acceptance speech on Thursday night, Mahomes credited his faith for providing him with the support he needed to achieve his NFL dream.

Mahomes said, “First, I want to thank God for giving me this platform and putting so many amazing people around me to help support this dream I’ve had since I was a little kid. Without him, none of this would be possible.”

Mahomes, who is days away from leading the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, accepted his second Most Valuable Player honor via video from Arizona, where the Super Bowl is being played. He previously won the award in 2018. Earlier this week, he spoke with reporters at a Super Bowl event about his Christian faith.

“My Christian faith plays a role in everything that I do,” Mahomes said.

“I mean, I always ask God to lead me in the right direction and let me be who I am for His name,” Mahomes contiued. “Obviously it will be on a huge stage in the Super Bowl that He’s given me and I want to make sure I’m glorifying Him while I do it.”

“Only God knows the things that each individual on this team has been able to overcome to come together as a team and do something special,” Hurts said.
