Pete Hegseth Smacks Down Hysterical Dem Senator With Epic Comeback: ‘Except For The Bible’
Tuesday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth gave testimony on Capitol Hill, where he battled a hysterical Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). In her questioning, Slotkin indicated a fear of U.S. Marines killing left-wing protesters.
“I love the military,” Slotkin started off, adding a comment about her own service in the armed forces. “So I’m worried about you tainting it. Have you given the order that they [military] can use lethal force against…”
“I want the answer to be no. Please tell me it’s no. Have you given the order?”
Hegseth responded by saying, “Senator, I’d be careful what you read in books and believing it. Except for the Bible.”
Slotkin gave an exasperated sigh at the secretary’s answer.
Later on, Slotkin slammed Hegseth as having less intestinal fortitude than President Donald Trump’s previous secretary of defense from his first term, Mark Esper. She brought up how Esper refused to follow a similar order put out by the president during the protests that exploded after the death of George Floyd.
She stated that she gives Esper “a lot of credit” because “he didn’t accept the order.”
“He had more guts and b—s than you,” Slotkin ranted, “Because he said I’m not going to send in the uniformed military to do something that I know in my gut isn’t right. He was asked to shoot at their legs.”
This wasn’t the only heated exchange that Hegseth found himself subject to during his testimony. He also had verbal fisticuffs with Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), who tossed questions at him concerning so-called antisemitism in the Pentagon.
Rosen brought up comments made by Defense Department press secretary Kingsley Wilson. The Nevada senator shared several posts she deemed to be antisemitic by Wilson.
Hegseth fired back expertly, saying, “Since I don’t believe the characterization of many officials in the news media, I would need to see precisely what’s being characterized generally.”
She then pointed out that Hegseth has promoted Wilson in the months following the alleged controversy, which she says is in stark contradiction to Trump’s public comments about fighting antisemitism.
When Rosen asked the defense secretary if he would boot Wilson from her position, he shot back, saying she “does a fantastic job,” going on to say the senator is mischaracterizing her posts.
Rosen then responded to Hegseth by saying he’s “not a serious person … You are not serious about rooting out, fighting antisemitism within the ranks of DOD, it’s despicable. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.”
As the senator attempted to question Hegseth on a different issue, he reminded her that her allotted time to chat with him was up.
“It is not up to you to tell me when my time is up,” Rosen stated, clearly agitated. “You’re either feckless or complicit. You’re not in control of your department … You’re not combating antisemitism within your ranks.”
