Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy engaged in a spirited exchange with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday, pressing her on President Biden’s remarks involving former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.

Doocy questioned Biden’s approach to election denial, referencing a moment where President Biden greeted a crowd with, “Hello Virginia, and the real governor, Terry McAuliffe.”

Jean-Pierre quickly responded, clarifying that the President was joking about McAuliffe’s previous term as governor. However, Doocy persisted, asking, “What’s the joke?” and probing further into the administration’s stance on election denial.

Biden faced criticism from conservatives on social media, who labeled him an “election denier.” This followed the reference to McAuliffe, the losing candidate in the Virginia gubernatorial race against the current GOP governor, Glenn Youngkin, as the commonwealth’s “real” governor.

The move was seen as hypocritical, especially by conservatives, because Biden and the Democratic Party have been vocal about election denial in other contexts, particularly concerning the 2020 Presidential election. Many believe Biden exhibited a double standard.
