The Austin Police Department shared a few new details on the murder of InfoWars reporter Jamie White, who was killed outside his apartment complex shortly after leaving work at the outlet’s offices just a few miles away.

The Austin Police Department confirmed that they responded to a call about a shooting in South Austin at 11:56 p.m. local time on Saturday and found White, 36, “lying on the ground in the parking lot with apparent trauma to his body.”

White was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead just over 18 minutes after arrival. “Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses,” the APD’s statement added.

Investigators believe that White was killed during an attempted burglary. “The initial investigation shows that White was shot and killed in the parking lot of the apartment complex in which he lived. The suspects then fled the scene,” police said.

“Detectives believe the suspects were possibly burglarizing White’s vehicle, when he interrupted them,” the statement added. According to a report from Fox 7 Austin, there were 57 reported crimes at White’s apartment complex in 2024, including vehicle thefts, aggravated assaults and a burglary.

White’s friend, Yecca Aaron, confirmed to the outlet that the InfoWars reporter was arriving home after working late at the office. “Literally right when he got home, all that happened,” Yecca said. “It’s crazy that he’s gone just like that,” she added. “I keep going back and forth between feelings of anger and sadness.”

Aaron, who said she was close with White, described him as a hard worker and a kind person. “His work was his life. He loved going to work, he never slacked off at work, his articles were very well written. That was what he was meant to do, was to write articles,” Aaron said.

She added that she agrees with the APD’s preliminary suspicions and does not believe White was targeted because of his work. “I really don’t think it was he was targeted because of where he worked. I think he was just targeted because he was right there in the right place at the wrong time,” she said.

In an official statement released by InfoWars, Jones slammed the city’s leftist district attorney for a rise in crime in Austin. “We pledge that Jamie’s tragic death will not be in vain, and those responsible for this senseless violence will be brought to justice,” the statement continued. “Jamie’s important work will be carried on through InfoWars, our readers, and our cherished listeners.”
