A new poll from YouGov/CBS News found that a solid majority of Americans approve of President-elect Trump’s transition efforts. Respondents also expressed positive opinions of Trump’s cabinet nominees, including those who have been targeted by intense smear campaigns from left-wing lawmakers and mainstream media outlets.

YouGov — which is generally graded as a left-leaning pollster — found that Trump’s second term is off to a “good start,” as his transition efforts have received support from a majority of Americans and near unanimous support among Republican voters. In total, 59 percent of respondents expressed a positive opinion of Trump’s plans for a second administration while just 41 percent disapprove.

When asked about overall feelings on Trump’s victory, 31 percent of respondents said they are “happy” while 24 percent said they are “satisfied,” resulting in a net positive in support for the president-elect. An additional 23 percent expressed dissatisfaction while 21 percent of respondents said they are “angry.”

In terms of party registration, 54 percent of Republican respondents are “excited” by Trump’s victory while an additional 41 percent are “optimistic.” Just five percent expressed a negative opinion.

The poll also found that Trump’s re-election makes 10 percent of Democrat respondents “motivated” to support his second term.

As for Trump’s individual cabinet picks, YouGov measured support from a majority of respondents for every candidate polled with the exception of U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who has already withdrawn his name from consideration for attorney general.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was found to be the most popular among Trump’s nominees, as 46 percent of respondents strongly or somewhat approve of the nomination while just 30 percent expressed a negative opinion. An additional 23 percent stated that they do not have enough information to make a call, a common theme among the five nominees who were polled.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the most well known, YouGov found, as just 16 percent of respondents were “not sure.” Kennedy — who ran an independent presidential bid before endorsing Trump this past summer — slightly trailed Rubio in terms of approval with a net positive rating of 12 percentage points. A total of 48 percent of respondents expressed a positive opinion of the HHS nominee, the highest raw total among the five nominees polled.

Respondents also expressed a net positive opinion of Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard, who garnered support from 42 percent of respondents compared with 33 percent who said the opposite. A significant number of respondents, 23 percent, indicated that they were unsure.

As for defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, a total of 38 percent of respondents expressed a positive opinion while 34 percent expressed a negative one. Like Gabbard, a significant number of respondents, 28 percent, remain unsure.

The positive marks for Gabbard and Hegseth come as they have been targeted with relentless, highly coordinated smear campaigns from left-wing lawmakers and pundits. Said entities have pushed a bogus sexual assault allegation against Pete Hegseth, which was investigated and found to be without merit by police almost immediately.

Lawmakers have also slandered Gabbard as a “Russian asset” due to her opposition to endless wars.
