POLL: Majority Of Americans Support Trump’s Mass Deportation Agenda
A majority of 2026 midterm elections voters support deporting illegal aliens back to their respective countries of origin, including most swing voters, according to a new survey conducted by Cygnal.
In terms of overall top priorities for likely voters, inflation and the economy remained in the top spot for 25 percent of respondents. Immigration and border security remains a significant priority, however, as 14 percent of respondents listed illegal immigration and border security as their chief concern.
Nine percent of swing voters listed illegal immigration as their top priority, as did three percent of Democrats and Harris 2024 voters.
Illegal immigration peaked as a top concern at the height of former President Biden’s open borders crisis in mid-2023, when 25 percent of voters saw it as a top priority, just below the economy. The figures have come down as border crossings have declined by more than 90 percent year over year, reaching record lows.
In terms of individual issues, the survey asked respondents, “Do you support or oppose deporting those illegally in the United States back to their country of origin?”
Overall, 63.5 percent of respondents support deporting illegal aliens from the country, while just 30.8 percent expressed opposition to the policy. An additional 5.8 percent remain unsure.
In total, 90 percent of Republican respondents expressed support for mass deportations, as did 61 percent of independents. This includes 71 percent of Republicans who “strongly support” deportations, as do 32 percent of independents.
A majority of Democrat respondents would like to see illegal aliens remain in the country, however, as 55 percent of Democrats oppose deporting illegal aliens. Of that number, 25 percent “strongly oppose” the policy, while just 25 percent support deportations.
Among swing voters, 30 percent of respondents “strongly” support a mass deportations policy.

In addition, 50 percent of black voters expressed support for the policy, as did 43 percent of Hispanic respondents. Cygnal polled 1,500 likely general election voters between May 6 and 8 with a +/- 2.51 percent margin of error.
The poll comes as the Trump Administration has ramped up efforts to encourage illegal aliens to “self-deport.”
Under a new policy change, the Department of Homeland Security will pay for the commercial flights for illegal aliens who choose to voluntarily return to their home countries rather than cost U.S. taxpayers the added fees and administrative expenses associated with apprehending, trying, and deporting them.
The agency is also set to announce that migrants who comply could be paid an additional $1,000 cash bonus upon proof that they have left the country.
