Pregnant Tesla Passenger Injured After Unidentified Assailant Throws Rock Through Windshield
Police in Vancouver, Canada are investigating after a pregnant woman was seriously injured when an unidentified assailant hurled a large rock through her Tesla windshield last Sunday, March 30.
According to the Vancouver Police Department the woman was traveling as a passenger in a gray Tesla around 8:45 p.m. when a two-pound rock came crashing through the windshield, struck her, and landed inside the vehicle.
Sgt. Steve Addison of the VPD said the woman was seriously injured and came within inches of dying. She suffered a “serious, but non-life-threatening injury, and is recovering,” he added.
Police are currently working to determine whether the attack was a politically-motivated act of violence, or whether the vehicle was targeted for another reason.
Investigators have examined the vehicle and have canvassed the neighborhood for additional evidence, local outlet Vancouver City News reported. As of this report, investigators have been unable to determine where the rock came from.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who might have dash cam footage taken on Nanaimo Street, between East 29th and East 22nd, between 8:40 and 9 p.m. on March 30 to come forward.
The incident took place on the same day as the worldwide “Tesla Takedown” protests, which were organized by left-wing activist groups in order to protest Elon Musk’s involvement with the Trump Administration.
In addition to the protests, there has been a documented rise in violence and vandalism targeting Tesla dealerships and owners across the United States. The U.S. Department of Justice has announced charges against several left-wing extremists — including individuals who used explosive devices to target Tesla vehicles in North Carolina and Las Vegas — and has formed a task force to investigate the politically-motivated violence.
The violence and vandalism has also spread to Canada, where law enforcement organizations are investigating at least 28 incidents that have occurred at Tesla dealerships or charging stations, according to a report from Global News.
Police have also linked nine “mischief incidents” against private vehicles since January with opposition to U.S. politics, a senior Vancouver police official confirmed. These incidents include rocks and liquid being thrown at cars, wipers being damaged, and racist symbols being written on vehicles.
For comparison, police confirmed there were no incidents of violence or vandalism against Tesla dealerships and charging stations in 2024, suggesting the attacks are all politically motivated.
