Pro-Trump NFL Vet Gets Last Laugh On Washington Post After Outlet Runs Hit Piece

NFL veteran and podcast host Will Compton had a hilarious response to The Washington Post after the outlet took issue with a recent interview featuring former President Donald Trump on the hit podcast ‘Bussin’ With The Boys.’ Hosted by Compton and fellow NFL star Taylor Lewan, the episode delved into sports, politics, and Trump’s colorful career. But it was a light-hearted joke Trump made that seemed to ruffle feathers at the Post.

During the podcast, Trump, known for his love of sports and competitive spirit, reminisced about his days playing football. While discussing how tough it is to play the tight end position, Trump joked that he wouldn’t want to be hit by a linebacker “who’s been lifting weights all day long and came from a bad neighborhood.” Compton and Lewan, both former NFL players, found the comment amusing, given Trump’s candid acknowledgment that football was no walk in the park.

But it didn’t take long for The Washington Post to reach out to the hosts, requesting a comment on why they found the remark funny. Sensing where this was going, Compton went to social media to share his response—one that’s being applauded for its boldness and humor.

In a video posted to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Compton laid out the situation: “As you guys know, our latest episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, we had on Donald Trump. And if you want to go watch it, it’s on all of our channels. But we knew there’d be a reaction.” Compton explained that the Post contacted them regarding Trump’s comment about the linebacker, insinuating that the media was trying to stir controversy.

“Their question is, why did we find that amusing?” Compton said. “You already know what they want to do with this thing. You know what kind of picture they want to paint. You know the box they want to put us in.” Rather than take the bait, Compton decided to offer his response publicly.

In a funny move, he sarcastically apologized for laughing at Trump’s self-deprecating humor, but then punctuated his message by shifting the camera toward his rear and letting out an audible fart. “There’s my comment for The Washington Post,” he declared. Meanwhile, the episode featuring Trump continues to gain traction.

Compton then shared a throwback article from The Washington Post itself, dating back to 2016. Titled ‘Will Compton’s work ethic and humor make him beloved in Redskins’ locker room,’ the piece was a glowing profile of Compton’s leadership, humor, and work ethic during his time with the Washington Redskins (now Commanders).

The 2016 article detailed Compton’s ability to bring out the best in his teammates both on and off the field. Compton’s teammate, safety Will Blackmon, praised the linebacker for his selflessness and work ethic. “It’s cause he’s genuine. He has no ego. He studies hard and works his butt off, so he can put us in the best position. He’s extremely selfless, and he plays super hard,” Blackmon said.

The irony of The Washington Post wasn’t lost on Compton or his followers.
