‘Real Housewives’ Star Announces Sad Personal News
Bethenny Frankel, known for her starring role on The Real Housewives of New York City, has broken up with Paul Bernon, ending their six-year relationship and engagement. The couple, who had been together since October 2018, decided to go their separate ways roughly two months ago, according to a mutual friend who spoke to US Weekly.
The source revealed, “It just wasn’t going to work. They are so different – he’s an under-the-radar kind of guy.” This marks the final chapter of their on-again, off-again relationship, which has seen both reconciliations and separations over the years. Despite the split, Frankel has still been seen wearing her engagement ring in recent social media videos, causing confusion about the state of her relationship.
The source clarified, “She still has the ring.”
Frankel and Bernon first met on a dating app in 2018. Reflecting on their initial encounter, she said to People in 2021, “I was pretty lucky when I walked in and saw him. He had a twinkle. He came as advertised — better than advertised. He overshot the mark.”

Their relationship timeline has been marked by various ups and downs. They briefly broke up in October 2020 but reunited by January 2021. At that time, an eyewitness described their reunion in Miami as “a spontaneous get-together.”
Shortly afterward, in March 2021, Frankel and Bernon announced their engagement. She shared her joy with Extra, saying, “I’m very excited, and it’s really wonderful.” The couple moved in together in Boston’s Back Bay area and even began house-hunting in New England.
Frankel is best known for her role on the reality TV show The Real Housewives of New York City. She has also achieved significant success in business, most notably through her Skinnygirl brand, which includes a line of low-calorie cocktails and other lifestyle products. Frankel has authored several self-help and business books, and she has hosted talk shows and reality TV programs like “Bethenny Ever After.” Additionally, she is recognized for her philanthropic efforts, particularly with her initiative BStrong, which provides disaster relief to those in need.
A year later, Frankel was still full of praise for Bernon. In a November 2022 episode of People’s “Every Day” podcast, she shared, “Paul is amazing. He’s a good partner. He’s a good friend. He’s a good dad. So everything’s good. Everything is really good.”
However, by July 2023, their future had grown uncertain. Despite speculation about another breakup, Frankel confirmed that she and Bernon were still together but weren’t planning to marry soon. She said on E! News, “I don’t want to build a wedding. I love my life. I love my fiancé. He’s an amazing life partner, and I don’t want to sign a contract with someone I love. I don’t want to plan a massive wedding for everybody else and not [do] what we want. I like doing what you want, not what society wants you to do.”
