REPORT: Biden Is Weighing Preemptive Pardons For Liz Cheney, Dr. Fauci

President Joe Biden is weighing preemptive pardons for key players in the Russian collusion hoax, members of the January 6 Committee and Dr. Anthony Fauci, senior Democratic Party sources close to the president told Politico.

According to the report, Biden aides are “deeply concerned” about a range of current and former officials who could be the subjects of legal inquiries under the Trump-led Department of Justice. The “sense of alarm” has accelerated in the days following the president-elect’s nomination of Kash Patel to head up the FBI, a veteran attorney and congressional aide who played a key role in uncovering the origins of the Russian collusion hoax while working for U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes, who chaired the House Intelligence Committee from 2015 through 2019.

As a result, Biden is currently weighing the possibility of issuing pardons to individuals even if the White House believes they committed “no crimes,” Politico reported.

“The deliberations touch on pardoning those currently in office, elected and appointed, as well as former officials who’ve angered Trump and his loyalists,” Politico reported.

Among those being considered for a preemptive pardon is U.S. Rep. and Senator-elect Adam Schiff (D-CA), who repeatedly lied to the American people during the Russian collusion investigation.

As the ranking member and later chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Schiff repeatedly claimed that the panel had seen an “abundance” of evidence indicating “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence agencies.

This claim has since been proven false numerous times, including testimony from Russia probe special counsel Robert Mueller. After investigating Trump and his associates for 22 months, Mueller was unable to find any evidence supporting the grand claims made by Schiff and other leading Democrats.

Biden is also considering a pardon for former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, who chaired the unprecedentedly partisan January 6 Select Committee. The committee broke decades of congressional precedent when then House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was not allowed to appoint Republican representatives to the panel. Instead, Pelosi unilaterally appointed “Republican” members Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, both of whom were thoroughly rejected by Republican voters.

The panel heard false testimony from former Trump staffer Cassidy Hutchinson, hired a Hollywood producer to cherry pick footage for primetime “hearings,” and destroyed all deposition tapes of committee interviews.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who headed up the U.S. government’s COVID-19 pandemic response and conducted research on coronaviruses in conjunction with China during his time at the NIH, could also be on the receiving end of a pardon. Several lawmakers have called for Fauci to be prosecuted, accusing him of making misleading claims about vaccine effectiveness and other COVID-19 remedies that have proven to be beneficial, in addition to his role in gain of function research.

Hutchinson testified that Trump “grabbed the steering wheel” of a moving vehicle and attempted to turn around on January 6, a claim that has been disputed by numerous Secret Service agents

Deliberations over potential preemptive pardons have been initiated by White House counsel Ed Siskel and a number of additional senior White House aides, including Chief of Staff Jeff Zients. President Biden himself — who had been intensely focused on his son’s pardon — has “not been brought into the broader pardon discussions yet,” Politico reported.

Several unnamed congressional Democrats have “quietly lobbied” for the pardons as well, though the potential beneficiaries have not been looped in.

In response to the report, Schiff stated that he is not interested in a pardon. “I would urge the president not to do that. I think it would seem defensive and unnecessary,” he told Politico.
