REPORT: Bill Barr Teamed Up With Fani Willis On Trump RICO Case

In a case of strange bedfellows, William Barr, former U.S. attorney general to President Donald Trump, has teamed up with Fani Willis, the Democratic prosecutor who tried the president before being tossed off the case, to try and take Trump down.

A whistleblower in the investigation has alleged that Barr conspired with Willis to stop Trump’s return to the White House through her prosecution, which saw the president and 18 co-defendants charged with attempting to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.

Barr, whistleblower Patrícia Lélis said, joined Willis and other participants like media figure Armstrong Williams for secret meetings in Washington, D.C., where the plot was concocted.

Lélis, who worked for Williams’s public relations company in 2021, claimed to have attended “dozens” of meetings where Barr and Willis outlined a number of legal strategies to hamper Trump before the 2024 election. She provided Project Veritas with boxes of handwritten notes she took from the sitdowns, which occurred between 2021 and 2023.

One meeting on September 6, 2021 included Barr as well as CNN Commentator Shermichael Singleton, where the working group devised a media strategy to run alongside Congress’ J6 investigation.

“The investigation will be focused on people close to Trump and make efforts to formally prosecute these people,” Lélis wrote.

According to her note, Barr listed ancillary targets of the investigation, including Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani, Stewart Rhodes, Enrique Tarrio, Jeffrey Clark, Oath Keepers, and Proud Boys. Months later, most of these individuals were hit with subpoenas to appear before the J6 committee, demonstrating the power flexed by Barr following his public break with Trump.

Photos from March 15, 2022 show Barr entering Sinclair Broadcast Group where he met with Willis and federal prosecutor Jack Smith about the looming charges Smith would bring against Trump in Florida. Smith’s case centered around Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents he refused to return to the National Archives.

Lélis recorded at the meeting that Barr predicted an FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago would occur “soon.” Five months later, agents swarmed Trump’s residence in search of documents and security footage.

Meeting notes from January 19, 2023 state that Barr and Willis were planning to meet again, and notes from a February 27, 2023 confirm the meeting took place. It was there that Barr allegedly advised Willis to pursue RICO charges against Trump.

“Bill Barr was like, we should bring RICO because it’s a very difficult type of charge to defend,” Lélis told Project Veritas, adding that Barr explained the racketeering charges as complicated and difficult to challenge under U.S. law.

Indeed, several of Trump’s defendants in the case ultimately pleaded guilty in exchange for their promises to testify against Trump and other alleged co-conspirators, a sign of the desperation seeping through their ranks as Willis appeared on the cusp of victory.

The overarching goal of these meetings, Lélis said, was to stop Trump’s return to the presidency.

“One thing that I understood very well is like Bill Barr and Armstrong and all the politicians too, they’re very focused like in how they go to stop Trump,” she said.

But those efforts went beyond the courtroom, according to Lélis. Willis, she said, reportedly worked with a social media team to design “anti-Trump” posts and other content to promote the prosecution. Meeting notes taken at a December 2021 meeting by Danielle Kersey, the Government and Politics Manager, frame the social media strategy as “Trump destroyed democracy.”

Lélis reported Barr to the FBI in June 2023 for their secret meetings as well as a visa fraud scheme previously unearthed by the outlet.

Williams, the PR executive, sent an ominous text message after learning about the FBI investigation against him, Barr, Willis, and other meeting members, she claimed.

“You had a chance to be part of my team, to build something big, make money…and you threw it all away. You took my documents and phones and never returned them. Now you think you can move against me? Let me be clear, your time is running out… Letting you live was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. If I could, I’d have my hands around your throat right now,” he allegedly texted Lélis.

Officials in the Trump U.S. Justice Department told the outlet, “Barr has put the entire FBI after this woman to get the documents she has.”
