REPORT: Doug Emhoff Rages At His Own Law Firm For Making Deal With Trump

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, reportedly lashed out at his own law firm after they struck a deal with President Donald Trump.

Trump announced that Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP — the elite law firm that just welcomed  Emhoff as a partner back in January — will be providing at least $100 million in pro bono legal services in alignment with Trump administration priorities. This includes support for veterans, law enforcement, and even conservative causes often overlooked by major legal institutions.

“Willkie’s pro bono Committee will ensure that new pro bono matters are consistent with these objectives, and that pro bono activities represent the full political spectrum, including Conservative ideals,” President Trump announced in a Truth Social post. Trump further noted that the firm has agreed to do away with DEI policies and will pledge to represent clients regardless of political affiliation.

In a separate statement, the White House confirmed that Willkie Farr & Gallagher proactively reached out to the president and the administration and thanked the firm’s commitment to end the “weaponization of the justice system.”

According to a report from CNN, Emhoff had choice words for the firm while speaking at a charity gala dinner in Los Angeles, California last Thursday. Emhoff claimed the agreement was necessary in order to avoid the threat of an executive order targeting the firm.

Willkie Farr & Gallagher previously provided pro bono legal services for two Georgia election workers who sued Rudy Giuliani for defamation after he claimed they engaged in suspicious conduct while counting ballots in the 2020 election. The free legal work the firm provided for the women amounted to tens of millions of dollars in damages being awarded to them.

The two parties eventually reached an undisclosed settlement earlier this year,

Emhoff told gala attendees that he had a disagreement with the firm over the deal, arguing that Trump’s order was “unconstitutional,” though he was ultimately overruled.

The chair of the firm, Thomas M. Cerabino, said that the agreement was “consistent with our Firm’s views on access to Legal representation by clients, including pro bono clients, our commitment to complying with the Law as it relates to our employment practices, and our history of working with clients across a wide spectrum of political viewpoints.” He added that Willkie “looks forward to having a constructive relationship with the Trump Administration.”
