Report: Elon Musk Is Recruiting Team To Create Non-Woke ChatGPT Competitor

Twitter and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is reportedly recruiting a team to create an artificial intelligence bot to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The self-proclaimed “free speech absolutist” has been approaching artificial intelligence researchers over the past few weeks to allegedly develop an alternative to ChatGPT, The Information reported Tuesday.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but left the company in 2018 and has recently offered criticism of it for “training AI to be woke. ”

“The danger of training AI to be woke – in other words, lie – is deadly,” Musk said of ChatGPT in a December Twitter post.

On Tuesday, the Tesla founder and Twitter owner posted a meme that suggested “Based AI” will overpower “Woke AI” and “Closed AI.”

Also on Tuesday, Musk said it was “Absolutely” an issue that ChatGPT is “biased” in response to a tweet that called the artificial intelligence bot “very problematic.”

The billionaire tech entrepreneur reportedly is in talks with AI researcher, Igor Babuschkin, who worked with Google’s parent company to create an AI research group.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 before leaving the company in 2018 over conflict of interest concerns. Musk criticized OpenAI earlier this month, saying the company has become something “not what I intended at all.”

“OpenAI was created as an open source (which is why I named it “Open” AI), non-profit company to serve as a counterweight to Google, but now it has become a closed source, maximum-profit company effectively controlled by Microsoft. Not what I intended at all,” he wrote.

Following the surge in popularity ChatGPT experienced, artificial intelligence chat bots have begun being developed by multiple massive tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Snapchat.

Neither Babuschkin nor Musk has confirmed there is an official business relationship between them to create a bot. However, Babuschkin did tell The Information that a Musk-led chatbot would not be conceived with the removal of content safeguards as its objective.

“The goal is to improve the reasoning abilities and the factualness of these language models,” Babuschkin said of the potential Musk project.

Earlier this month, President Joe Biden released an executive order which called for artificial intelligence systems to advance equity. “The implementation of the executive order would entail a “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” (DEI) board that would supervise the rollout of AI bots across the country in order to recruit them into the Woke army,” Trending Politics News previously reported.
