REPORT: Kate Middleton ‘May Never Come Back’ To Royal Role After Treatment

In March, Kate Middleton revealed she was battling cancer and started chemotherapy. The announcement came after a major abdominal surgery in January, initially believed to be for a benign condition. Further tests, however, confirmed cancer, leading to her undergoing preventative chemotherapy. In a heartfelt video message, the Princess of Whales spoke about the overwhelming support from her family and the public.

Over recent months, Prince William has maintained a brave face during public events following his wife’s announcement. His recent visit to St. Mary’s Community Hospital in the Isles of Scilly, located off England’s southwest tip, was marked by his usual warmth and poise.

During the visit, he engaged with staff, posed for photographs, and shared a brief update on Kate’s condition, noting that she was “doing well.” He also mentioned that their children felt a twinge of envy as he visited one of their favorite family spots without them.

Meanwhile, Middleton has been seen running errands alone and with family. An insider told Us Weekly, “Kate’s feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids. She’s been an active parent.” A second source added, “Kate’s recovery is going well. She’s not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick and they don’t want her compromised, but she’s up and about.”

Kate’s team is currently assessing her future commitments, as they stated, “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back.” The source added, “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”

“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you personally for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I’ve been recovering from surgery,” the Princess said back in March when she made her announcement. Middleton expressed her gratitude for the public’s support during an “incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family.”

Speculation began about her whereabouts in the beginning of the year when the she was not seen in the public eye. Speculation intensified after Middleton’s prolonged absence following her abdominal surgery in late 2023, a period that catalyzed rampant rumor-mongering.

“The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” Middleton revealed. As a result, the medical team advised her to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, a journey she has started with the support of her family and medical professionals.

“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment but most importantly it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay,” she explained.

When not tending to her role as a mother, Kate has been spending her time cooking and baking, activities she deeply enjoys, according to a close source to the outlet. Being in the public eye often comes with its stresses, and Kate is thoughtfully considering her workload once she fully recovers. “Her role may look very different,” the source mentioned, indicating that Kate is contemplating how her duties might evolve in the future.
