REPORT: Portland ICE Facility Under Attack For 100 Straight Nights
Immigration authorities stationed in Portland, Oregon, say they are receiving “little help” from local police after facing sieges from far-left radical protestors for more than 100 straight nights, some of which have become violent.
News of nonstop demonstrations at the city’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center comes as President Donald Trump is preparing to deploy members of the U.S. military, declaring this week that a “lawless” Portland is putting its residents in danger. As images of the roving protestors show, it may be Portland’s ICE officers who are most in harm’s way.
Federal agencies are targeting domestic terrorism groups loosely linked through antifa, or the “antifascist” collective of far-left radicals who rose to prominence during violent demonstrations in 2020.
Cammila Wamsley, director of Portland’s ICE office, said she and her fellow agents have barricaded themselves inside the facility while Mayor Keith Wilson and a progressive city council largely sit on their hands or go so far as to order local police to steer clear of the area.
“I just, I can’t figure out what’s happening at the FDA. I’m totally baffled by it,” Wamsley said, describing her frustration at seeing federal staff attacked outside the building while officers inside lack jurisdiction to intervene. “It’s frustrating for us to watch people be attacked on the street and know that we don’t have the authority to be able to really step in unless there’s some nexus to federal law.”
What began as nightly chanting and sign-holding has morphed into crowds throwing glass bottles against the building, shattering windows, barricades blocking the arrival and departure of ICE vehicles, and laser pointers being shone directly into officers’ eyes, Wamsley stated.
At least six Portland ICE employees have been doxxed and seen their personal information released online, she added.

“Later, towards the evening and around dark, there are a lot of folks that come up dressed in all black,” she explained. “They are here to wreak havoc. They’ll block our cars, throw paint, damage property and even try to follow our folks home.”
Wamsley warned that surging crowds are growing by the day, and the situation is only becoming more volatile.
“We’ve seen it before. The folks here can go from a crowd of 50 to a crowd of 1,000 in 30 minutes,” she explained. “Sometimes we only have 20 officers here. We would not be able to defend the building with that show of force.”

When ICE has called the Portland Police Department for help with crowd control, they are slow to respond, Wamsley stated, sometimes not arriving at all, citing city policy. The lawlessness has resulted in assaults along the streets around the ICE detention center.
“That is not the stance they would take six blocks from here, but it is the stance they take with us because of guidance from the mayor and city council,” Wamsley said.
Still, agents are committed to their jobs, and the deportations will continue, she assured Fox News.
“The people that work here are here to serve the American public,” she said. “They are here to enforce the same immigration laws we’ve had in place since the 1950s. Nothing has changed in that regard. We come to work every day. We do our job the way we have been doing it, and we’ll continue to do that.”
