REPORT: Soros Network Pumps Significant Funds Into Letitia James’ Re-Election Campaign
New York Attorney General Letitia James has received financial support from billionaire leftist financier George Soros and members of his family for her political campaigns, including her expected reelection bid in 2026.
According to records from the New York State Board of Elections, Soros and his family have contributed more than $71,000 to James since 2019. This includes $31,000 specifically earmarked for her reelection efforts in 2026.
George Soros donated $18,000 in July 2024, and his daughter-in-law Jennifer Soros contributed $13,000 in May 2024. An additional $40,000 was given for her prior campaigns beginning in 2019.
These direct contributions are part of a larger network of support. The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, have provided $23.7 million to the Working Families Party since 2016 through its fundraising arm, the Working Families Organization Inc.
Soros and his family have also made direct donations totaling $865,000 to the New York branch of the Working Families Party since 2018. James has longstanding ties to the party; she was elected to a New York City Council seat in 2003 as its first successful candidate in the state, representing areas including Fort Greene in Brooklyn.
The 2026 New York Attorney General election is set for November 3, 2026. Letitia James, a Democrat who has held the office since 2019, is widely expected to seek a second term. On the Republican side, several candidates have announced their intentions to challenge her.
Michael Henry, a commercial litigator, is running to replace James as a Republican. “George Soros has spent years financing the radical left’s most extreme projects, and the outcome is almost always the same: instability and disorder that is destroying our state. We saw it with [Manhattan District Attorney] Alvin Bragg, so no one should be surprised that [Soros] is heavily backing Letitia James’ ideological crusades and political vendettas that put New Yorkers’ safety on the back burner. When the same donor who funds chaos underwrites New York’s top law enforcement office, the results speak for themselves,” he told Breitbart News.
Khurram Dara, a 36-year-old attorney specializing in cryptocurrency, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in November 2025. Saritha Komatireddy, a former federal prosecutor who served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, declared her candidacy in December 2025.
As of now, no Democratic challengers to James have emerged publicly, and the Republican primary will determine her opponent in the general election.
James has long found herself in the national spotlight since she campaigned on “getting” President Donald Trump. She went on to secure a highly controversial civil judgement against the president and his business interests that was ultimately slashed by an appellate court.
The Trump-led Justice Department is currently seeking to revive its criminal case against James after it was tossed by a Virginia judge earlier this year.
