Ric Grenell Takes The Gloves Off, Exposes ‘Billionaire’ Democrat Rep: ‘Upset She’s Losing Some Of Her Inheritance’
Former Acting Director of National Intelligence and Special Presidential Envoy Ric Grenell didn’t mince words Friday when he called out Democrat Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) over her push to dismantle Elon Musk’s DOGE initiative, accusing the congresswoman of defending bloated government spending to protect her own financial interests.
Jacobs, the granddaughter of Qualcomm founder Irwin Jacobs and heiress to a multibillion-dollar fortune, unveiled the Delete DOGE Act this week. During her 2020 congressional campaign, she received significant financial backing from her family, including $1.5 million from her grandparents to a super PAC supporting her candidacy.
Her bill, H.R. 2601, would effectively defund DOGE (Decentralized Operations for Government Efficiency), Elon Musk’s reform effort currently reshaping how federal agencies operate. “Billionaire granddaughter of @Qualcomm wants to keep spending billions of other people’s money,” Grenell wrote in a scathing post on X.
“Did Qualcomm lose any contracts in the @DOGE house cleaning? Is the Billionaire congresswoman upset she’s losing some of her inheritance?” he asked.

Grenell’s jab sparked a flurry of reactions, with many conservatives echoing his sentiment that Jacobs’ opposition to DOGE has less to do with concern for public services and more to do with potential personal losses tied to lucrative federal contracts.
Jacobs, who represents California’s 51st District, launched a Twitter thread Thursday slamming Musk’s DOGE for cutting “billions of dollars” in federal research funding and firing “tens of thousands” of government workers. In particular, she claimed DOGE had “accidentally” terminated staff involved in nuclear defense, Ebola prevention, and crisis hotline operators at the VA.
“Elon Musk’s ‘move fast, break things’ approach doesn’t work when you’re talking about programs that keep people alive,” she wrote. “DOGE needs to be stopped.”

The Delete DOGE Act proposes cutting all federal funds to DOGE, reclaiming unused resources, and banning any future taxpayer money from supporting the initiative. Jacobs framed the effort as a battle to prevent Musk from “robbing the American people to fund tax breaks for billionaires like him.”
But critics say her motives may not be so altruistic.
“You want to stop DOGE from cutting off all the money you steal,” one user wrote. “I’m just curious could you tell the American citizens how much you stole from them,” another asked. “Only a corrupt politician would do this if they had something to hide. So tell us how much was your cut.”

Others questioned whether Qualcomm—whose federal contracts have exceeded $500 million over the past decade—might be among the entities impacted by DOGE’s streamlining of government spending.
The feud comes as President Trump’s newly announced tariff policies have already rattled global markets and intensified the debate over public vs. private sector roles in national infrastructure and security. While Wall Street continues to digest the shock of sweeping import taxes, the broader conversation about economic nationalism has extended into the tech and defense sectors—where Musk and companies like Qualcomm reside.
Grenell’s remarks serve as a warning shot to what some on the right view as hypocrisy from wealthy progressives who oppose private-sector disruption—unless, of course, it benefits their own bottom line.
