Scott Jennings Joins Trump At Rally For Mic Drop Moment

CNN’s Scott Jennings moved out from behind the camera to the front of the auditorium on Tuesday night, showering President Donald Trump with praise to celebrate his 100th day in office alongside thousands of MAGA faithful who cheered them on from below.

The 100-day rally in Michigan capped off a record of accomplishments that the Trump administration began touting at the start of the week, stretching from tariffs to the elimination of “woke” standards in the military and corporate boardrooms. Jennings, a conservative panelist on the network, was welcomed by Trump, who credited him with helping push the administration’s message of reform on a cable news network that had once been his ultimate adversary.

“You know, we have a man here that I don’t know, but he’s defending me all the time on CNN, and he defends me really well. But he can’t go too far because if he goes too far he’ll get fired,” Trump teased from Macomb County. “I said, ‘You’re amazing. You can take it right to the edge.’ And he really does a good job.”

“He’s not allowed to go any further. He would be off. You know, if he really went totally crazy — what you’d like to do — but I think he’s terrific. Scott Jennings. Where are you Scott? Come here Scott! This guy, really, I’ve watched him for years,” Trump added. “I don’t know, but he likes Trump.”

A sizable crowd inside the Macomb Sports & Expo Center sounded its thunderous applause for Jennings, 47, a rising star in the GOP who has even been floated to run for U.S. Senate in his native Kentucky, where Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is retiring after 2026.

“Oh, CNN, this is the end of Scott,” Trump joked. “Oh, who cares? Don’t worry. We’ll take care of you Scott. Scott Jennings — really great!”

“Michigan! We were flying in here today and I said, ‘Look at these farms. I got to get a farm in Michigan because when you own as many libs as I do you got to put a place to put them all. Thank you all very much!” Jennings said over cheers.

Jennings, who has been with the network since 2017, has become a ratings multiplier for CNN as executives seek to transition the network from an anti-Trump hub into an arbiter of at least somewhat fairer news. The transformation has led to other notable pro-Trump statements lately, as when data analyst Harry Enten referred to the president as a “soaring eagle” due to his latest polling numbers.

On Monday, Jennings told CNN host Laura Coates that immigration continues to be President Trump’s number one issue with voters, citing a recent poll showing 54% approve of his policies toward mass deportation. Those results were underscored in a contentious interview Tuesday night, where Trump lambasted an ABC News reporter for pleading with him to return an alleged MS-13 gang member deported to El Salvador.

As for his own possible future in the Senate, Jennings has remained coy, but he isn’t closing the door on the idea just yet.
