Tennis legend Serena Williams has revealed a surprising health update on TikTok, detailing a recent health scare that led to surgery.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion shared with fans that back in May, she discovered a lump on her neck. After undergoing several tests, including an MRI and biopsy, doctors diagnosed the lump as a brachial cyst, a condition many people may not be familiar with. In her video, Serena explained that the cyst continued to grow, eventually reaching the size of a small grapefruit.

“So one day back in May, actually, I found this big mass on my neck. I was mortified by it and I got tests done. Everything you can imagine everything was negative, and it turns out I had what they called cyst, a brachial cyst to be exact,” she explained. “I’m so grateful everything worked out, and most of all, I’m healthy,” Serena said in the video, clearly relieved by the outcome.

Despite the initial recommendation that she could leave it untreated, the growth and potential risk of infection forced her to make the decision to have it surgically removed. The procedure, though challenging, was successful.

She described the experience as exhausting but is now on the mend, though she mentioned being “a little tired.”
