‘She’s Not Real Smart’: Tom Homan Tears Into Rep. Jasmine Crockett In Brutal Takedown
Tom Homan, the incoming border czar under President-elect Trump, didn’t mince words when responding to Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). Crockett, appearing on MSNBC over the weekend, criticized Homan’s capabilities and suggested he lacks the expertise to handle border policy. In a fiery appearance on Newsmax’s Wake Up America, Homan set the record straight with a pointed takedown.
Crockett, during her MSNBC interview, dismissed Homan’s qualifications, saying, “Again, we have someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing… Trump and his minions say things like, ‘You know what, we’re only going to get rid of the bad ones.’” She also questioned the morality and practicality of stricter immigration enforcement, adding, “You’re going to come to my job where I’m working and I may be paying into taxes or whatever, or my kids are at school… there’s going to be a rude awakening really on all sides.”
Homan, who served as the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and has over 34 years of experience in border enforcement, didn’t hold back in his response. He highlighted his extensive career and accused Crockett of being uninformed. “I forgot more about this issue than you’ll ever know,” Homan fired back. “I mean, for God’s sake, it’s been over 34 years. There’s been a rude awakening—the American people are sick of illegal immigration and crime in this country.”
“How many young women have to be raped and murdered and burned alive? How many MS-13 gang members trained in Guatemala have to be in our major cities committing crimes against U.S. citizens? How many angel moms and dads do we have to have in this country that lost their children at the hands of somebody that wasn’t supposed to be there?”

Homan also took aim at the rhetoric surrounding family detention policies, which he defended as humane and necessary. “Family detention is the complete opposite of family separation,” he said. “So look, I don’t know who this lady is, but apparently, she’s not real smart.”
Last week, Homan confirmed plans to reinstate family detention policies as part of a broader strategy to enforce immigration laws. The deportation efforts will focus on targeted campaigns, prioritizing individuals with criminal records rather than conducting sweeping raids. National Guard troops may assist with logistical support, but arrests will remain the responsibility of trained law enforcement officers.
Additionally, Homan plans to review tools like the CBP One app, which he claims has facilitated fraudulent asylum claims under the Biden administration. He suggested that stricter policies, including ending “catch-and-release” and denying entry during asylum processing, would deter illegal crossings.
Pivoting to the Trump administration’s approach, Homan contrasted the current state of the border under the Biden administration with the secure policies he intends to reimplement. He said to Newsmax, “Under the Biden administration, we’ve got a historic number of aliens who have died across this border—nearly 4,000. A historic number of Americans, over a quarter million, have died from fentanyl coming across the border.”
“President Trump is going to secure this border and save lives—not just of Americans, but of aliens too. A secure border saves lives. That’s exactly what we’re going to do starting day one,” Homan said this week.
