Sen. Mazie Hirono, a Democrat from Hawaii, stood on the Senate floor on Wednesday and advocated for the use of physical force against pro-life activists to protest the recent attempt by Republicans to pass a national ban on abortions beyond 15 weeks.
According to Hirono, the word “hypocrites” doesn’t even begin to cover what Republicans are doing; therefore she suggested other terms be used instead. According to her, this constitutes a direct assault on women’s rights in this country. She continued by stating that this is how she perceives the situation. Hirono continued by stating that this is how an increasing number of women and people who support their freedom to make judgments about their bodies see it and that this is how they view it.
She remarked that “this is a call to arms in our country in a very literal sense.”
The actual attacks that took place in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson were, of course, carried out by those on the political left as well as radical abortion activists. They attacked, damaged, and destroyed dozens of women’s clinics and churches.

But according to Hirono, who this past summer smeared the Supreme Court as “extreme right-wing” and called for the close of the filibuster to enshrine Roe v. Wade, the Dems have every right to write off Republicans’ constitutionally protected right to promote an abortion ban as “pandering to their extreme MAGA base.” Hirono’s comments come after she called for the end of the filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade.
Rep Hirono has indicated that voters will have options to consider in November. She questioned the public if they wanted to let far-right extreme MAGA Republicans tell them what they could and could not do with their own bodies or if they wanted to hold these politicians accountable for promoting their extreme far-right agenda. It would appear that she had forgotten whose party was responsible for the threats and attacks against maternity clinics and judges.
Hirono has now joined the ranks of other radical Democratic politicians like Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, who have called for an intensification against women’s clinics and any individual who takes up the role of protecting innocent fetuses.
Notwithstanding Attorney General Merrick Garland’s unfulfilled rhetoric to protect the rule of law and Director of the FBI Christopher Wray’s assertion that violence “is not the answer,” the chances that the Department of Justice and FBI will ignore Hirono’s literal call for violence against pro-lifers are very high. This is similar to how they failed to confront the dozens of attacks on pro-life organizations. Hirono called for pro-lifers to be killed if they opposed abortion.
