If you have time to send a prayer up today, please send one for Megyn Kelly and her sister,Suzanne Crossley, who just passed at the young age of 58. Kelly announced as much on her show, telling her viewers that her sister passed over the weekend.
As you can hear in the video, Kelly said that her 58-year-old sister had “died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack“. In her words:
“Something really sad happened in my family over the weekend. My sister died. She was 58. Her name was Suzanne Crossley and she died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack. It was really hard, it was extremely emotional. My poor mom, as all moms and dads out there know, this is not the order this is supposed to happen.”
She described the death as both “sudden” and “unexpected,” though she also noted that her sister had not been in “very good health over the past couple of years,” and said that her sister’s health situation was “sort of one problem after another.”
Describing what happened and how she responded to her sister’s passing and who else on that side of the family survived her, Kelly said that she “went right up and was there with my mom, and my brother Paul, and my, my nephew Brian, one of her three kids, when she passed.”
Continuing, Kelly then explained why she was doing the Monday show (the one embedded above) because “it’s more cathartic to work.” Explaining why she views work as cathartic in this situation, Kelly noted that it gives her mind something to focus on other than the sadness of the situation.
Using the situation as an opportunity to remind people to treasure and value those close to them, Kelly then said that it was “a reminder to hug the people you love“.
Continuing, Kelly encouraged those listening to try to stay close to those they love and do what they can to keep in touch with those people, putting in the effort to build and treasure those meaningful relationships while they still can. In her words:
“How short and tenuous life is, and how important it is to stay close to the people you love. You know, we can’t all be perfect on that front, but we can make a little effort day by day just to, you know, shoot a text, or return a call.”
She also encouraged people not to get hung up on things that are, in reality, unimportant, saying:
“So it’s a big reminder to me at how fleeting things can be and how we get upset over s*** that doesn’t matter.”
So, if you have a minute, today would be a great day to both text those you love and say you love them and send up a prayer for Megan Kelly and her family.
