Star Of Popular TV Show Dead At 58 After Stabbing
Eduardo Xol, known for his role as a designer on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” has passed away at the age of 58, one week after being stabbed. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California, as confirmed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred on September 10. Xol, who lived in Palm Springs, was pronounced dead on the afternoon of September 19, according to both the Riverside County coroner and confirmation from his mother to TMZ.
“We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol,” his family told TMZ. “As his family, we know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now, allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in Eduardo’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life in the service of others.”
Richard Joseph Gonzales, a 34-year-old resident of Cathedral City, California, has been arrested on charges of attempted murder linked to the stabbing and subsequent death of Xol. Gonzales came under police eye when he contacted dispatch on the same day Xol was found, claiming to have been assaulted the night before.
A further investigation led authorities to suspect Gonzales in the stabbing. He was arrested and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, close to Palm Springs. Currently, Gonzales is being held without bail, with police advocating for murder charges to be filed against him according to TMZ.
Xol, an influential figure in entertainment and design, was born in Los Angeles in 1966. He first gained recognition as a child prodigy in music, performing with prestigious orchestras and participating in international piano recitals. His artistic talents extended into acting, with early roles in films and significant exposure in Latin American telenovelas under the stage name “Edi Xol.” He returned to the U.S. and shifted his focus to design and lifestyle entertainment, notably starring in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
