Steve Bannon Goes Scorched Earth On Anti-Gaetz Fox News Host: ‘A Horrible Person’

War Room host Steve Bannon ripped former congressman and current Fox News host Trey Gowdy over his opposition to President-elect Trump’s nominee for attorney general, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Gowdy — who was once seen as a rising star in the conservative movement before his abrupt retirement — has since worked at Fox News for a number of years. He recently generated headlines and drew criticism from Trump allies over his fierce opposition to Gaetz’s nomination.

“The more you get to know Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard, the more you’re gonna like her. The more you get to know Matt Gaetz, the less you’re gonna like him,” Gowdy said. “I’m gonna be really surprised if he can get confirmed.”

In a fiery segment on Saturday morning, Bannon referred to Gowdy as a “traitor,” pointing out that failed to refute the verifiable lies told by former House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff during the Russian collusion hoax. Schiff repeatedly claimed that he had seen direct evidence of collusion between the Trump Campaign and the Russian government, a blatant lie that led to the congressman’s censure last year.

Bannon first took aim at Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch, stating that the network needs to “get with the program.”

“Because these cabinet secretaries are going to be the cabinet secretaries. And Matt Gaetz, as attorney general, and the team they put around that’s been announced is an amazing team already. And he will be the quarterback. So it’s going to happen,” he said.

Speaking in reference to Gowdy directly, Bannon noted that he failed to push back against lies pushed by Schiff and U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) while also accusing him of working to set “perjury traps” for Trump allies. “And the worst was Trey Gowdy. He was trying to dig up stuff on Trump. Trey Gowdy is a traitor, he’s a horrible person,” the former White House chief advisor stated.

“Perfect person to be over the Murdoch’s running dog. The question I’ve got, you talk about a house. Trey Gowdy, you left the house like in the middle of the night. As a rising quote-unquote star, you left like in the middle of the night,” Bannon continued, asking why Gowdy “traded down” as opposed to seeking an attorney general position or judgeship.

“But you didn’t take being a judge, which would be an obvious choice. You didn’t check being a U.S. attorney or attorney for the government, which would have been an obvious choice. You didn’t take going for a big law firm and getting a payday, right? You kind of put your shingle up, kind of wandered around. Why would anybody do that?”
