Savannah Guthrie, co-host of NBC’s “Today” show, pleaded for the safe return of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, in a new video statement. The latest statement comes as the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its second week, and just hours ahead of a hard deadline outlined in a ransom note sent by the suspected abductees.

“Hi there, everybody. I wanted to come on and just share a few thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Guthrie, now by herself, began. Guthrie had previously released three video statements in which she and her siblings directly addressed the suspected kidnappers.

She then thanked supporters for their encouragement and prayers. “I just want to say first of all thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt, my sister and brother and I. And that our mom has felt,” she said. “Because we believe that somehow some way she is feeling these prayers and that god is lifting her even in this moment and in the darkest place.”

Guthrie then expressed optimism that her mother is still alive and thanked investigators for their efforts. She concluded the video statement with a call to action for the public.

“And we need your help no matter where you are. Even if you’re far from Tuscon, if see anything, hear anything, if thhere’s anything at all that seems strange to you, report it to law enforcement.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after she failed to attend a church event. She had been dropped off at her home, where she lived alone, after having dinner with family members the night prior.

Investigators believe that she was taken against her will sometime that night, as her home showed signs of forced entry. Blood splatters, which were confirmed to belong to Guthrie after forensic analysis, were also found on the property’s porch.

Multiple suspected ransom notes were sent to a number of Arizona-based media outlets, as well as TMZ, on February 2. These notes, whose authenticity law enforcement has not fully confirmed but is treating seriously, demand $6 million in Bitcoin for Nancy’s safe return. One note reportedly stated that Nancy is “safe but scared” and aware of the demands.

The notes outlined two deadlines: the first on February 5, 2026, at 5 p.m. Mountain Time, which passed without any reported contact or resolution, and a second on February 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. Mountain Time, described as “far more consequential” with “much more serious” conditions if unmet.

Savannah Guthrie’s latest video statement comes just hours ahead of the second deadline. In a previous video released on February 7, the Guthrie family appeared to directly address the suspected kidnappers and indicated that they would pay the ransom.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke confirmed the notes included sensitive information, including specific details on the crime scene. Experts, including former hostage negotiators, have suggested the ransom demands indicate experienced perpetrators, potentially more than one person involved, given the coordinated nature of the notes and abduction.
