“Sue the View” Trends after Whoopi Goldberg Makes Disgusting Lies about TPUSA and Nazis

Published

on

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, during a recent segment of “The View”, attempted to smear the conservative student organization TPUSA (Turning Point USA) by using an incident where a few Nazis showed up to protest the organization in an attempt to smear it as a Nazis organization. It was a disgusting pack of lies that led TP USA to fire off a “cease and desist” letter in retaliation.

The problem with the segment began when Joy Behar started commenting on the incident and said:

“Neo-Nazis were out there in the front of the conference with anti-Semitic slurs and, you know, the Nazi swastika and a picture of a so-called Jewish person with exaggerated features, just like Goebbels did during the Third Reich. It’s the same thing, right out of that same playbook.”

She then went on to claim that  Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “did nothing,” failing, of course, to mention the Republican governor attended the event the day before neo-Nazis appeared and thus had no reason to “do something” about the peaceful protesters; reprehensible as their views might be, it’s un-American to suggest a governor shut down peaceful protesters if they’re not trespassing or otherwise breaking the law. But Joy being Joy, that’s what she did.

But, though the other hosts more or less stopped pushing the Nazi line after having to read a disclaimer provided to the network by TPUSA’s counsel, Whoopi didn’t, as the New York Post notes, reporting:

But you let them in, and you knew what they were,” Whoopi Goldberg inaccurately said before the panelists were forced to read another disclaimer and explain the neo-Nazis were “outside protestors” and TPUSA didn’t let them in. “My point was metaphorical,” Goldberg said.

The on-air disclaimers didn’t satisfy TPUSA in-house counsel Veronica Peterson, who penned the scathing cease and desist.

Watch the View hosts make those deceitful remarks here:

Peterson then fired off a scathing cease and desist letter ABC’s way, with Veronica Peterson placing a heavy dose of the blame on Whoopi and saying:

The View hosts intentionally and falsely associated TPUSA with neo-Nazi protestors outside the event placing TPUSA in denigrating and false light and negatively impacting its public perception. Such action will not be tolerated.

“Specifically, The View hosts insidiously and cavalierly stated that TPUSA ‘let [neo-Nazis] in’ to its SAS event, metaphorically ‘embrase[d] them’ and that neo-Nazis were ‘in the mix of people.’ The assertion that TPUSA is complicit or affiliated in any way with the neo-Nazi protesters outside the event is outlandish, false, defamatory, and disgraceful. Even after Ms. Haines reluctantly read the TPUSA statement that it condemns the group of neo-Nazis and that the group had nothing to do with TPUSA, its event, or its student attendees, Ms. Goldberg continues the false tirade against TPUSA, asserting that somehow the organization and its attendees were ‘complicit’ and/or associated with the outside protest.

“To be abundantly clear, TPUSA aggressively and completely condemns the ideologies of neo-Nazism and has zero connection to the protestors outside the event. Since these individuals were located on public property, TPUSA security attempted to, but was not permitted to remove them.”

Continuing, Peterson went on to include some serious demands and threats, saying:

In cases where the communication is of such a nature that the court can presume as a matter of law that the communication will tend to degrade or disgrace the party defamed, special damages are presumed. Therefore, TPUSA demands that ABC immediately cease and desist from further unlawfully defaming TPUSA, retract the defamatory statements identified above, and issue a public statement apologizing for and correcting the above defamatory and false statements.”

Should ABC decide not to comply with the demands above, TPUSA is prepared to promptly take all steps necessary to protect its rights, including pursuing all available legal remedies, seeking monetary and non-monetary damages, injunctive relief, and attorneys’ fees and costs.

Following the incident, “Sue the View” trended on Twitter after Jack Posobiec started a hashtag and got it going, with many high profile conservatives such as Congresswoman Greene and Daily Wire host Michael Knowles joining in.

It remains to be seen who or what Turning Point sues over the incident. Based on the clips, Whoopi certainly seems like the most blameworthy person involved, with “The View” as a show and ABC as an organization also being responsible.

We’ll see what TPUSA does next.
