Surveillance video shows Democrat Mayor get punched, knocked down, suspect evade security; police seek tips to identify culprit
A harrowing surveillance video shows the exact moment that a random person walked up to Louisville’s Democrat Mayor Greg Fischer and sucker-punched him in the face in broad daylight this past weekend. Police reported that Mayor Fischer was just standing there talking to people in the crowd when the random suspect walked up out of nowhere and clobbered him for an unknown reason. Police and media outlets shared the video and are looking for tips on identifying the suspect.

Right after the sucker-punch, Mayor Greg Fischer fell to the ground and then someone was seen following the suspect, but then went back to check on the mayor who got dropped.
Mayor Greg Fischer got checked out by the EMS and is reportedly doing fine and did not require any immediate medical attention or treatment.
EMS evaluated the mayor immediately and determined he did not need medical treatment.
It should be known that Mayor Greg Fischer had security with him, but they were not able to stop the punch from out of nowhere and for some reason, did not apprehend the culprit, which is why police are still asking the public for tips on who assaulted the mayor.
As reported, Jessica Wethington, director of communications for the mayor’s office, is the person who said Mayor Greg Fischer had security present. She issued a statement saying: “While it’s not appropriate to comment on specifics of that [security] detail, it is always being evaluated and adjusted as needed. There have been no changes made to the mayor’s events.”
The mayor’s office should have explained how the suspect escaped, but they so far have not, and now police are still looking for leads.
The LMPD posted on Twitter, saying “Earlier this evening, while at Fourth Street Live, Mayor Fischer was punched by an individual. The Mayor is doing fine.
