‘Tacky’: Jill Biden Under Fire After Bizarre WH Christmas Decorations Are Revealed

First Lady Jill Biden unveiled her vision for this year’s White House Christmas decorations, and social media users have wasted no time in mocking how “tacky” and “fitting” they are given the president’s notorious pardoning of his son.

The Daily Mail reported on Jill Biden’s “circus” style Christmas, complete with a tree wrapped inside a carousel and multi-colored doorway drapes more befitting of a Barnum & Bailey traveling tent. Other elements struck a traditional tone, like the twinkling lines and garlands adorning the building’s many hallways, but this year’s twist left much to be desired by some who noted the tone deafness of the decorations following President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden on felony tax and gun charges.

Social media users ripped the first lady after she joined National Guard members on Monday to unveil the design. “What has Nurse Jill done with our White House? My God,” wrote Jake Schneider, President-elect Donald Trump’s rapid response director. “The White House is a circus, so I guess these are appropriate Christmas decorations,” replied another X user. One called the circus theme “appropriate” given Biden’s final embattled months in office. “As usual, fake ‘Dr’ Jill made a horrendous job of the White House ‘holiday’ decorations. However, it did have an appropriate circus theme for the clown resident,” their post read.

Shortly before carnival music began to play, Jill Biden reflected on her time in the White House from the podium. “It has been the honor of our lives to serve as your President and First Lady,” she told attendees in a joint statement with the president. “Our hope is for the Nation to be blessed with the peace and light of the holiday season. At the holidays, Americans come together every year in fellowship and faith, reminding us that we are stronger as a community than we are apart. The strength of our country, and the soul of our Nation, come from you.”

The White House later released statistics on this year’s decorations tallying 83 Christmas trees, 165,075 “holiday” lights, 9,810 feet of ribbons, and more than 28,125 ornaments. A gingerbread replica of the White House was also on display, complete with an ice skating rink on the sculpture’s front lawn.

But the pomp and circumstance didn’t distract reporters from shouting questions at the first lady about whether she approved of Hunter’s pardon. “Dr. Biden, what changed on the pardon for Hunter?” one yelled as she was leaving the room. “Of course I support the pardon of my son,” she said into the microphone, which had already been turned off.
