Take A Look At Who Biden Picked To Lead ‘Treasury Advisory Committee On Racial Equity’
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced Tuesday the inaugural members of her department’s Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, which is obviously another attempt by the radical left to concentrate on non-existent racial issues so that Americans will never, ever forget that they aren’t all the same skin color. This stuff is getting so old.
According to the Daily Wire, the committee is set to provide Yellen with “advice and recommendations” concerning “efforts to advance racial equity in the economy and address acute disparities for communities of color,” on the issues of housing and federal supplier diversity. All of that came from a press release.
You know, the best way to help encourage the end of what racial inequality still exists is to focus less on the things that divide us and more on the things that bring us together. We all share a lot of similar experiences and have the same kind of wants and needs. Yet, for whatever reason, modern-day liberals just want to keep folks at each other’s throats by creating problems where there aren’t any or at the very least making issues that are small and simple to fix bigger than they actually are.
“Among the other inaugural appointees are former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, a Democrat who will chair the committee, and Roosevelt Institute CEO Felicia Wong, who will serve as vice-chair,” the report said.
“A critical piece of executing on our racial equity goals is bringing a wide set of outside perspectives and lived experiences to the decision-making table,” Yellen went on to explain. “The Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, made up of members with wide-ranging backgrounds and expertise, will provide important insight and advice to leadership across the department to bolster and inform our equity efforts.”
Nutter, who was top dog in Philly between 2008 to 2016, has been rather skeptical of the calls being made to defund local law enforcement departments and has even been a vocal critic of the “anti-police” narrative spun by leftist propaganda makers in the mainstream media and by current Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. But, on the other hand, Wong went on to co-author a paper that tries to make the case that “police budgets should be reduced and for-profit prison systems must be done away with” four years before the infamous death of George Floyd.
Here’s a bit more information from The Daily Wire:
Another paper co-authored by Wong last year said policymakers should “center race” in every decision. “Because our racial disparities are so severe across all elements of the American economy and society, no policy, even if facially race-neutral, is race-neutral in practice,” the report explained. “The design of all policy proposals — big and small — must be attentive to racial outcomes. All policy, from vaccine distribution to higher education funding to tax reform, will have racialized effects. Recognizing this reality, and always considering race in policy design, is therefore vital.”
The White House is pursuing a “whole-of-government approach to put climate change at the center of our domestic, national security, and foreign policy,” according to a speech delivered by President Joe Biden days after his inauguration. While praising the administration’s approach, Wong said that “centering race equity as a key measure of successful outcomes, which more generally challenges older racial liberal ideas prioritizing access and opportunity, will be pivotal to shifting policy norms and expectations.”
Beyond the Committee on Racial Equity, the Treasury Department hired Janis Bowdler. She spearheaded JPMorgan Chase’s initiative to invest $30 billion in underserved communities, as the first Counselor for Racial Equity at the end of last year. Yellen said in a statement that “the American economy has historically not worked fairly for communities of color” and asserted that her department “must play a central role” in removing purported racial inequality.
The Democratic Party is a political version of Jan Brady, but instead of “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha,” it’s “Racism, racism, racism.”
Police officers are necessary to keep law and order. Can changes be made to make these institutions better? Of course. And we should always be seeking to improve whenever possible. That simply makes our streets safer. Not all cops are racists. If they were, then there would certainly be a whole lot more stories about it in the news. The left would never miss an opportunity to cover that sort of thing in order to help aid their progressive overlords.
Bottom line is, don’t drink the Kool-Aid.
