Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce made headlines once again after attending the U.S. Open championship match at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
The power couple, who have been the center of media attention over the last year, were spotted holding hands as they arrived, with Swift dressed in a red sundress and Kelce wearing a white Gucci bucket hat. They later joined Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, in the stands.
While the star-studded group seemed to be enjoying the match, not everyone was impressed by their behavior.

At one point during the event, cameras caught Swift and Kelce passionately singing along to the 2000s rock hit “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. The lighthearted moment, however, quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons. Social media exploded with criticism, with many calling their performance inappropriate for the occasion.

As Taylor and Travis energetically sang along, several viewers noted the uncomfortable expressions of Brittany and Patrick next to them. During the animated performance, Brittany seemed to lean over to her husband, whispering incredulously, “Do you know this song?” After Patrick replied, a bewildered Brittany appeared to mutter, “Like, what?!” according to DailyMail.
Adding fuel to the fire, Swift’s choice of company also drew backlash from some of her fanbase. The pop star was seen chatting with Brittany, who recently stirred controversy by liking a pro-Trump post on Instagram. The interaction didn’t sit well with a portion of Swift’s fans, known for their generally liberal leanings, leading to further criticism.
Reactions flooded social media, with critics labeling the couple’s actions as “cringe” and accusing them of turning the prestigious tennis event into a spectacle.
