Adrian Schiller, star of “The Last Kingdom” and “Victoria,” passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60, the Daily Caller reports.

News of the actor’s death was announced by Scott Marshal Partners, his talent agency of more than three decades.

“It is with the heaviest and saddest hearts that we announce the death of our beloved client, Adrian Schiller, on Wednesday 3 April,” the statement said, according to People. “He has died far too soon, and we, his family and close friends are devastated by the loss. His death was sudden and unexpected and no further details around its cause are yet available.”

Known elsewhere for his roles in “Doctor Who” and “Beauty and the Beast,” Schiller kept up a frenetic pace with his work. He “was looking forward to” a San Francisco stop on his international tour promoting the upcoming play “The Lehman Trilogy.”

“I’m so sorry to let you all know that our beloved brother Adrian died suddenly at home yesterday. He had so many very dear friends – sorry to those of you who are learning about this here. We will say more about funeral and/or memorial plans in due course,” his sister Ginny wrote on her brother’s X profile.

Rufus Norris, director of the National Theatre, paid tribute to his colleague in an online statement reacting to news of Schiller’s passing.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened to have lost our company member and friend, Adam Schiller,” Norris wrote. “Adrian was a wonderful actor, and the National Theatre had the pleasure of working with him throughout the breadth of his career.”

“His recent performance as Henry Lehman… was superb and his presence within the company will be greatly missed.”

The London-born actor began his career later than his peers, making his first appearance in the 1992 season of Prime Suspect at the age of 28 alongside Helen Mirren.

He was first and foremost a working actor who stretched his talents to fit anti-drunk driving commercials for the U.K.’s public information campaigns as well as the Department for Transport’s 2007 “Think! Road Safety” campaign in 2007. Schiller’s ads that year landed him a Best Casting trophy at the BTACA Awards.

Other credits to Schiller include “Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal,” and the critically acclaimed “The Danish Girl.” Disney’s 2017 remark of “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson saw Schiller take the role of  Monsieur D’Arque, the sly warden of the local asylum who is bribed by Gaston to have Maurice, Belle’s father, institutionalized.

A fund by Schiller’s family has been set up to benefit his longtime partner Milena.
