‘The View’ Host Shocks Audience, Opens Up About Pro-Life Views
“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin has openly revealed her pro-life stance, a position that diverges from the show’s predominantly left-wing narrative. Known for her liberal viewpoints, Hostin attributed her opposition to abortion to her Catholic faith.
The disclosure has led to a significant backlash, including receiving hate mail from fans of the show.
“The Republican Party in many respects is leaning on evangelicals for this argument. I myself am Catholic,” Hostin said. “I have mentioned many times I’m pro-life. I’ve received a lot of hate mail for it. That’s my personal position, but there has to be a separation between the government and religion.”

While Hostin said she personally opposes abortion, she also revealed her disagreement with actions such as repealing Roe v. Wade and imposing restrictions on abortion clinics.
Hostin’s pro-life declaration is particularly noteworthy as it comes from a figure within a media place often criticized for its liberal bias. Whoopi Goldberg, another host of the show, has also chimed in about the abortion debate.
“This is my body and nobody… you won’t let me make my decisions about my body? You are not the person to make that decision,” Goldberg said back in May of 2022. “The reason abortion came about — women in this country lived forever with it being illegal. Okay? Women, when they decide something is not right for them, they’re going to take it into their own hands.”
The overturning of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022 marked a significant shift in American society. The decision effectively ended the federal constitutional protection of abortion rights that had been established for nearly 50 years since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.
The decision was met with a polarized response. It was long a goal of many Christian conservatives and Republican officeholders, including former President Donald Trump, who appointed three of the justices who joined the majority in the ruling.
