Tim Tebow Announces Life-Changing Family News

When Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters tied the knot in 2020, fans couldn’t wait to see what the future would hold for the former NFL quarterback and his South African beauty queen bride. Now, they’re about to take on a brand-new role together. The Tebow family is growing, but not just in faith and philanthropy. The couple revealed they’re expecting their first child—a dream they’ve long prayed for.

Their growing family marks another milestone for the pair, who often share glimpses of their life together, from mission trips to everyday moments, with their millions of followers. Tebow first rose to fame as a college football star at the University of Florida, where he won the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2007 and led the Gators to two national championships. He went on to play in the NFL as a quarterback, most notably with the Denver Broncos, where his dramatic playoff-winning performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012 cemented his legacy.

After stepping away from football, Tebow pursued a career in professional baseball, signing with the New York Mets organization and playing in their minor league system from 2016 to 2021. Today, Tebow works as a college football analyst while dedicating much of his time to philanthropic efforts, including the Tim Tebow Foundation, which focuses on helping children and individuals with special needs. He said in an interview with People magazine that he feels “honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad.”

Demi-Leigh, 29, also shared her excitement with about expecting her first child with the retired NFL star, 37. “We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” she said. “I’m so grateful because I just couldn’t imagine a better life partner to do life with first and foremost,” Demi-Leigh, now 16 weeks pregnant, said. “To be able to raise a little tiny human being together. I’m so grateful that Tim is my husband… that we get to do parenting together.” Demi-Leigh added, “I feel like every time I say, ‘Tim’s going to be a dad!’ it feels so surreal.” She noted that they are approaching their fifth wedding anniversary on Jan. 20.

“She is going to be a fierce defender and protector.” Tim elaborated, “She will be extremely loyal and loving. Demi is someone that is extremely determined. When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in — and I know that she will do that as a mom, too.” Demi described Tim as “extremely gracious,” which she believes makes him a great husband and will also make him “such a great dad.”

When Tim learned of his wife’s pregnancy, he remembered how it fundamentally altered his outlook on life. “It’s just amazing how it also reprioritizes and changes what you put an emphasis on and what you value most,” he reflected on his new responsibility. “News like that just supersedes the level of importance and the level of joy that you have,” he added. “It’s just so cool.”
