Tim Walz Under Fire For ‘Extremely Odd’ Post On X

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) is facing widespread ridicule after posting an awkward holiday video on X (formerly Twitter) that left viewers scratching their heads and some outright creeped out.

The video, addressed to Walz’s daughter Hope, features the governor and his wife sharing their “holiday traditions” while decorating a tree with homemade ornaments—including a shabby angel made of a toilet paper roll. Walz captioned the post, “Remember to share holiday traditions like decorating the tree with your kids even if they’re out of town.”

“Hey Hope, Mom and Dad here,” Walz begins in the nearly one-minute video while pointing out various keepsake ornaments from years past. His wife chimes in with remarks about a reindeer-themed decoration and a basketball ornament made by their son, Gus. But it was the final display—a toilet paper roll angel—that really set off the online roasting.

“You’re going to love this,” Walz says as he holds up the tattered angel ornament. His wife explains, “You made it. Do you see your little hands here? They’re the angel wings.” The camera lingers uncomfortably on the makeshift decoration as Walz places it on the family tree.

“Joy to the world!” his wife exclaims, capping off the strange moment.

The video quickly gained traction on social media for all the wrong reasons, with many X users branding it “creepy,” “weird,” and “downright bizarre.”

Walz, a Democrat, has faced heightened scrutiny in recent months over his leadership and policies, and this awkward video did little to help his image.
