‘Time For Peace’: Trump Takes Victory Lap After Iran’s ‘Total Capitulation’
President Donald Trump touted the success of back-to-back strikes across Iran on Monday, calling for the country’s leaders to seek peace through negotiations over the future of its nuclear enrichment program.
In a late-afternoon social media post, Trump took credit for bringing about total capitulation by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iran’s senior officials after a barrage of missiles fired at a U.S. military base failed to hit their targets.
“Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered,” read a post by the White House in Trump’s voice.
“There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was ‘set free,’ because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction.”
Those details track with immediate updates around Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, where American forces engaged and eliminated missiles headed in their direction. The base is the largest American presence in the Middle East and serves an estimated 10,000 soldiers, contractors, and other civilians.
Trump ridiculed Iran for the failed attack.
“I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their ‘system,’ and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE,” he added.
Part of the reason for the counterattack’s failure, Trump mused, was the “advanced warning” that Iranian officials gave the world by speaking with reporters. Following Sunday morning strikes by the U.S., a number of “senior Iranian officials” essentially laid out their preparations for launching an aggressive response, speaking with the New York Times, Guardian, CNN, and other mainstream outlets as they deliberated in near-real time.
“Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump concluded.
President Trump followed up on his official statement with further pronouncements on Truth Social, where he thanked the Emir of Qatar for “seeking Peace for the region.”
“Congratulations world! It’s time for peace,” he said in an all-caps bulletin.
Earlier in the day, the president admonished former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev for suggesting that the U.S. attacks were meaningless because other nations would readily supply Iran with nuclear weapons. It’s unclear to what extent Medvedev is speaking on behalf of the Kremlin or President Vladimir Putin.
“Did I hear Former President Medvedev, from Russia, casually throwing around the “N word” (Nuclear!), and saying that he and other Countries would supply Nuclear Warheads to Iran? Did he really say that or, is it just a figment of my imagination? If he did say that, and, if confirmed, please let me know, IMMEDIATELY. The ‘N word’ should not be treated so casually. I guess that’s why Putin’s ‘THE BOSS,'” Trump wrote ominously.
He also touted satellite imagery showing that Iran’s underground Fordow facility was sitting exposed after being hit with multiple 30,000-pound bombs. He declared the site “obliterated” and called on Khamenei to negotiate a peaceful end to the conflict.
“The white structure shown is deeply embedded into the rock, with even its roof well below ground level, and completely shielded from flame. The biggest damage took place far below ground level,” Trump observed. “Bullseye!!!”
