Tommy Lee Jones’ Daughter Faced Criminal Charges Before Death
The daughter of Hollywood actor Tommy Lee Jones faced a series of criminal charges in the months leading up to her sudden death, according to court records and law enforcement reports.
Victoria Kafka Jones, 34, was found unresponsive inside a San Francisco hotel room on January 1 and was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not released an official cause of death, but the incident has been classified as a suspected overdose. Law enforcement officials have said foul play is not suspected.
Police responded to a 911 call from the Fairmont San Francisco hotel early that morning after staff discovered Victoria Jones unconscious. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting toxicology testing, and final results are pending.
The death came after a turbulent year marked by multiple arrests and unresolved legal cases tied largely to substance abuse issues.

Court documents show that in April of last year, Victoria Jones was arrested in Napa County and charged with possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a narcotic without a prescription, and obstructing a peace officer. She entered a not guilty plea, and the case remained active at the time of her death.
Less than a month later, she was arrested again, this time in Santa Cruz County, where she was charged with public intoxication and resisting or obstructing a police officer. That arrest followed reports of erratic behavior in a public area, according to police records.
In June, Victoria Jones was taken into custody once more in Napa County on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. Details surrounding that incident were limited, but court filings confirm the case was still pending as of late 2025.
Sources familiar with the proceedings said prosecutors had offered a plea agreement in at least one of the cases that would have required probation, substance abuse treatment, and regular drug testing. She was scheduled to appear in court again later this year.
Victoria Jones had a complicated personal history that had previously drawn legal intervention. In 2023, her father petitioned for a temporary conservatorship, citing concerns about her health, safety, and substance use. A judge granted the request, though it was later dissolved at the family’s request after she entered treatment.
Despite her struggles, Victoria Jones had briefly followed her father into acting. She appeared in small roles in films including Men in Black II and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, the latter directed by Tommy Lee Jones. She also made a television appearance on One Tree Hill earlier in her career.
In a short family statement released after her death, representatives for Tommy Lee Jones asked for privacy and expressed grief over the loss.
“We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” read a statement signed by “The Family of Victoria Kafka Jones.”
“Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”
