Top CNN Expert Identifies DEVASTATING Sign For Kamala As Election Nears
As the 2024 election approaches, Vice President Kamala Harris finds herself facing a new and critical hurdle. CNN’s political director David Chalian highlighted a “devastating” sign for the vice president as she continues to lag behind Donald Trump in a key demographic. The warning from Chalian comes as Democrats closely monitor voter trends, with growing concern over Harris’ ability to garner support in swing states like Georgia and across the nation.
During a segment on CNN, Chalian specifically pointed to white voters without college degrees as a significant area where Harris struggles, and where Trump has a stronghold. “If you look at the white voters without college degrees, this is a Trump-based constituency, obviously,” said Chalian. “You see his huge numbers with this group. You see that this is a trouble sign for Harris.”
The vice president’s challenges do not stop there. Chalian went on to explain that Harris is also underperforming with another crucial group: white, college-educated voters in battleground states. In states like Georgia, where Democrats have made inroads in recent years, Harris’ inability to connect with these voters is seen as a red flag. “She probably wants to make up some ground with white college-educated voters across these battlegrounds as well,” Chalian said, pointing to the steep uphill battle she faces in securing their votes.
Harris, who has struggled to build a broad coalition of voters during her vice presidency, must find ways to reverse these trends if the party hopes to hold onto the White House. The battleground states mentioned by Chalian—such as Georgia—are particularly worrisome for Democrats. These states have long been viewed as potential tipping points in national elections. Any significant shortfall in support for Harris among white voters, whether college-educated or not, could prove disastrous for her chances.
WATCH:
It is no secret that Trump’s appeal to white voters without a college degree has been a cornerstone of his political strategy. The fact that Harris continues to trail Trump among this group suggests that her messaging may not be breaking through in the way the Biden-Harris team had hoped, especially in key states where the demographic is essential.
Harris is set to travel to Pittsburgh today to prepare for next week’s debate with former President Trump. The two have recently finalized the debate rules, opting to use the same format as the June debate between Trump and Joe Biden. Meanwhile, former President Trump traveled to his home state to speak at the Economic Club of New York.
Harris has some time to address these weaknesses, but the pressure is on. If she cannot make significant inroads with white voters, particularly in key battleground states, it could signal serious trouble for the Democratic ticket. As Chalian put it, “An important gut check for both campaigns” is on the horizon.
Russian President Vladimir Putin made headlines on Thursday with his unexpected endorsement of Vice President Harris for president. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin said, “Our ‘favorite,’ if you can call it that, was the current president, Mr. [Joe] Biden. But he was removed from the race, and he recommended all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. Well, we will do so – we will support her.” He also commented on Harris’ demeanor, noting, “She laughs so expressively and infectiously that it means that she is doing well.”
