WATCH: Trump Attorney Rips Jack Smith’s Latest Indictment Charges And Leaks: ‘Not The Way The Justice System Works’
Trump’s attorney Alina Habba was interviewed on Newsmax for her thoughts on recent developments concerning yet more leaks and charges coming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office against her client. She called such developments “a publicity stunt” and said this was “not the way the justice system works” if it was blind and impartial.
The interview began with the host asking Habba for details concerning Trump’s legal team meeting with Jack Smith. She responded that “I can’t really speak to certain details but I can tell you [it was] much of nothing. The reality is what we have learned today was more effective from the press that got leaked from the DOJ than to the attorneys that were actually sitting with the DOJ…that is literally all that America has become. It is a terrible thing. When I, who was not in the meeting, am hearing leaks while the attorneys who are in the meeting are talking to the DOJ that is concerning to me.”
She then said this divergence told her that all of this was “a publicity stunt and that is what America should realize. When the DOJ has a PR person putting statements out on Twitter about the status of a private grand jury investigation that should be confidential and breaking privilege [it means] we are in a state of crisis. Not because Donald Trump stood up and said be peaceful and do something peacefully but because our justice system is so corrupt from within and from the top that they can’t see straight because they are so scared that Donald Trump might come in and clean house.”

The host asked if this action by the DOJ was grounds for dismissal of the case. Habba said “I think so. I think we have seen prosecutorial misconduct across the board on many of these cases…That’s not the way the justice system is [supposed to] works. That’s not the way attorneys work….it’s completely disgusting. It is completely inappropriate.”
The host at a later point in the interview asked about the involvement between Trump’s good poll numbers against Joe Biden and the indictments. Habba commented, “I think it speaks for itself…The American public is not stupid and they [the DOJ] are doing a lot of the campaigning for how destructive our country is for the president [Trump]…when they [independents] are saying…’I see what you people [the DOJ] are doing and it is not okay because you can do it to my uncle, my cousin, my brother, my sister, my mother. I am scared.’…I think the American people are seeing that [this is not justice].”
The host then asked how Trump was doing personally through all of this. Habba said Trump and his family “were resilient and strong…he is a fighter. He is fighting for everybody and the more they try and hurt him…the more he believes in this country getting back and trying to get in to get it back.”
