Trump Calls On Minnesotans To ‘Fight Back’ Against Somali Violence

President Donald Trump is putting Minnesota’s Democratic leadership on notice, demanding action against a wave of gang-related shootings in the Twin Cities and offering federal assistance as law enforcement scrambles to contain the violence.

Trump delivered the warning Thursday on Truth Social, taking direct aim at Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey following several shootings authorities have linked to Somali American gangs.

“The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State. The people of Minnesota must fight back,” Trump declared.

“You have been robbed, and abandoned by your State Government. Your Governor is an incompetent thief who doesn’t want to get involved,” he continued, leveling accusations against Walz without presenting evidence of personal theft.

“He just wants to get out of town with as much as he can steal, and then, lead a quiet life. The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back! If you need, the Federal Government will come to your rescue.”

Trump concluded by demanding that state and city officials seek Washington’s assistance.

“Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, must immediately ask for Federal help — and leave the rest to us!”

The president’s remarks followed a frightening string of shootings across Minneapolis-area suburbs, including Eden Prairie and Bloomington.

More than 100 rounds were reportedly fired during a shooting along a residential street in Bloomington, while another incident outside an Eden Prairie high school football game left two teenagers injured.

Authorities believe the incidents are connected to rival gangs, raising concerns that retaliatory violence could spread into additional communities.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher has been sounding the alarm for months, estimating that approximately 300 young people are involved in the criminal groups operating throughout the metropolitan area.

“We have the opportunity to fix it,” Fletcher said.

“It’s early. Once they evolve into drugs, we’re in trouble. Once they evolve into money, more money, we are in trouble.”

Law enforcement leaders are now pursuing a coordinated regional response, with officials discussing a dedicated task force to confront the escalating gang activity.

The renewed violence comes as Minnesota continues grappling with the fallout from massive government assistance fraud scandals that have placed Democratic oversight under intense scrutiny.

Republicans have repeatedly criticized Tim Walz‘s administration over its handling of fraud investigations and public safety, arguing that state officials failed to respond aggressively enough to emerging problems.

Walz has rejected Donald Trump‘s broader attacks on Minnesota’s Somali community, accusing the president of targeting immigrants rather than addressing underlying concerns.

The violence has also become a political flashpoint ahead of November’s midterm elections, with Republicans challenging Democrats in closely watched statewide contests.

Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar is seeking the governorship against Republican Lisa Demuth, while Democratic Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan faces Republican Michele Tafoya in the Senate race.
